I Think On These Things is Jenny Burton's first solo album in several years. After a phenomenal seven year run with The Jenny Burton Experience and a most successful album (The Jenny Burton Experience) to boot, Jenny decided it was time to concentrate on her solo career as well.
I Think On These Things follows the course set by Ms Burton into Inspirational music. Basically a Gospel CD, it explores many of Gospel's traditions, both young and old, with new songs, penned by Peter Link (composer and producer of The Jenny Burton Experience) and additionally well-known spirituals.
Besides the dynamic and uplifting “I Stand For You” (with additional lyrics by Ms Burton herself) and the gorgeous title song “I Think On These Things”, the CD also contains new sparkling covers of The Byrds' 70s mega hit “Turn Turn Turn” and the much loved “He's Got The Whole World In His Hands”. The CD is glued together by six interweaving old favorites ranging from “Were You There” (When They Crucified My Lord) to “We'll Understand It Better By And By” and even a beautiful rendition of “Battle Hymn Of The Republic”. All together twenty songs make up the CD produced at Link Recording Studios, NYC.
Gospel piano great Shelton Becton joins the supporting cast and powerful vocal choral arrangements are supplied by superb arrangers John Danny Madden and Margaret Dorn. Produced by Peter Link, long-time collaborator with Ms Burton, the CD was a year in the making and promises a devoted fan following.
Jenny began her singing career in churches and then moved into the R&B/Dance circuit. As a solo artist on Atlantic Records, Jenny’s contributions to the motion picture soundtrack of Beatstreet brought her first gold album. Her second album, Jenny Burton, contained her third national #1 dance hit. Her second gold album was White Nights, starring Gregory Hines and Mikhail Baryshnikov. The Jenny Burton Experience swept all the major music awards in New York City for best vocal group.
