John lives and works in the San Francisco Bay area. He has been a popular guitar teacher in the South Bay since 1975. Students wait 2 to 3 years to have a chance to study with him.
He also has had extensive performing and recording experience. John has worked with a long list of artists and bands and has played for many interesting venues both locally and in other parts of the world.
John Epp says: This album is a collection of songs with strong melodies, bass lines and chord structures. This style of guitar playing is called chorded melody. I sometimes call it piano style. Whenever the band isn’t there, this is what I like to play."
-----------------------
Students and jazz pros alike will get into John Epp’s latest guitar CD. For students, it’s a great way to remind yourself that so much of today’s music is based on the innovations within our rich musical heritage. For the pros, it’s a demonstration of the class and understanding that make for a tasty song and a tasty solo. John Epp’s spare and smooth approach will delight and challenge you. I left humming “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and wondering just how John played it.
