Album Notes

Jeremiah Clark is a Baltimore-based folksinger and songwriter, a desperate criminal and conman who has been making music for the last five years with his band, the Lighter Thieves. They have performed throughout the mid-Atlantic region, as well as spent a summer performing in Alaska, trying to win over good-hearted, simple-minded folks with a blend of subversive preaching and the devil’s music. They sound like a raggedy pack of washed-up hepcats, out for one more prowl. They play with a certain abandon, and a little desperation, like they just realized that the whiskey has run out, and they won’t be able to go buy anymore until they finish the show. They have little regard for authority figures, and seek to incite rebellion under the guise of "social protest". Their main goal, however, seems to be to excite the womenfolk, whilst reminding the boys of the dangers of excited womenfolk. Beware this band, who have ruined so many hitherto virtuous souls.

"Bone" is the first solo recording from Jeremiah Clark. It is a collection of folksongs written and sung by Jeremiah, accompanied by his guitar and harmonica, and by Pa Clark on upright acoustic bass and harmonies. The songs deal with such timeless subjects as heartbreak, desperation, broken-down pickup trucks, poor decision-making, war, politics, frollicking in a grassy meadow, payin’ for it later, addiction, friendship, Eskimos, corporate greed, keepin’ awake till dawn, and women. Anyone who can’t identify with this stuff oughta check and make sure he’s still above ground. Good luck to ya.

Love it!

I bought the entire CD after hearing 'North' on a great community radio station in Missouri (KDHX 88.1 FM). I've been burned before when purchasing a entire album based on one song...but Jeremiah Clark has restored my faith in complete, thoughtful albums where each song stands alone, but put them together and you really have something!
