From the streets of a small town in West Texas to performing in front of 5000 people, Jeremiah Houston's feet remain planted firmly on the ground. Jeremiah was born in Lubbock, Tx on October 21st, 1976. He was raised by his parents in Seagraves, Tx until graduating in 1995. Houston then Joined the Marine Corps. stationed in Camp Pendleton. After serving his country he moved back to Texas to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. Completing a 800 hr course through South Plains College he earned a certificate in criminal justice. Soon he would take the streets of Ruidoso, NM as a police officer while maintaining his writing ability and keeping his musical senses keen. Not long until Houston submitted some songs and signed a one yr recording contract with an undisclosed Nashville label. Jeremiah learned the cold hard truth about Nashville and the folks there in the music biz. He did however manage to pull off a gig with the now famous Trent Willmon at a little club called the Second Fiddle. Houston started playing the piano at age four on an old Wurlitzer piano given him by his mama and papa, Mr. & Mrs. John Houston Pillow. It was at the 12th st. Church of Christ where he learned to sing and harmonize and found he had quite an ear for music. By age 13 he was writing and singing his own songs. It wasn't until he became a big fan of Metallica, Waylon, and of course Pat Green that motivated him enough to purchase a guitar from a pawn shop in Lubbock, Tx. Honing his skills lyrically and instrumentally, he decided to record a five song demo with Mark Dreyer which later turned into a 12 song album "Hung The Moon". Jeremiah started a band based out of Lubbock, Tx where he found success opening up for such acts as Pat Green, Wade Bowen, Mike McClure, Reckless Kelly, Tracy Lawrence, and Cross Canadian Ragweed. Not satisfied with one record he found Bill Green of BGM to record the now legendary "Southern Boy", "Trailer Trash King." and "The Dream." Finally picking up a Bud Light sponsorship the band pressed on with singles on the radio and a handful of followers. Back to the studio to record with Wally and Swade Moyer of Studio 84 in Lubbock , Tx. The ten song album "Leave You Behind" was the result which included the previous three tracks recorded with Bill Green of BGM. Today Jeremiah and the band which consists of (Chad maines on drums, Mica Vasquez on bass, and Casey Maines on lead guitar and vocals) stay busy touring Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Trying to stay one step ahead of other artists "which aint easy" Houston stated. If you ever hear of a raw, loud, and band full of attitude playing anywhere around Texas. You can be assured that the Jeremiah Houston Band isn't too far. Thanks for reading the Jeremiah Houston Bio
