Jeremy Facknitz has given up his dream. Once, he strived for mainstream commercial success, working tirelessly for nearly a decade to grab the attention of the mindless "music industry" zombies that unleashed the "boobonic" plagues of Barenaked Ladies and Dave Matthews on the unsuspecting American people. Now his dream is as dead as their industry, and thankfully so — his third disc, Songs from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, set for release this weekend, is by far his best.
Inspired by '60s folk and chamber pop (think Simon and Garfunkel meet the Hollies) and backed by a full band, including the talented "Bass Queen" of the Pikes Peak scene (and I ain't talkin' about fishing!) Melissa Joy, Tom Park on the French horn, and Bailey Gearhart and Julie Ray on backup vocals, Songs comes off as more honest, heartfelt and fun than his last album, What a Day! That's the one he hoped would launch a commercial career, but ended up being "the nightmare of nightmares."
This time, "there has been zero consulting with people in the business regarding these songs," says Facknitz. "It's been so freeing to shed aside my youthful delusions of grandeur, triumphantly raise my middle finger to the industry and say, 'This is me.'"
- Adam Leech, The Colorado Springs Independent
"Jeremy Facknitz is like a singer/songwriter who has been bitten by a radioactive rock star."
- Charlie Milo, The Charlie Milo Trio

His third solo offering:
MUSIC FROM THE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK is as creative, fun, and intelligent as its name. These 10 tracks make "deep" of missed thoughts riddling the back of our minds in a musical package as "light" as a carousel ride.
