Just remember, a Rosetta Stone isn't always easy to decipher. I put some lowly doggy songs in along with some of the studio cuts. We're in for a rough ride, we're in for the long haul. Here's the deal- man does not live on bread alone. Nor should he. He (or she, importantly) also lives on sound, also lives on sight, and love. We are blind, deaf, and dumb, searching for a Rosetta Stone to find our way through life. These songs have been my Rosetta Stone, all but four written by yours truly, all but one shaped like clay inside of this head of mine. Over the hills, over the mountains. The side streets and alley ways of my old neighborhood where my folks still live, the urban homestead of my father and mother which lies amidst graffiti'd walls and shabby shanty town like shacks, where they sustain themselves with pomegranites and salad straight out of the yard, nothern souls that they are as I make my way now in the largest city of the land. I am one with the decaying sprawl from hollywood to venice these past few years I have stayed put. This, after a decade of gypsy roving the stray country sides and manifesting song which were seeded in loneliness and desperation. These songs have become my friends, I can remember when and why they all were written. Like the time I was waiting for the bus in 99, on sepulveda and westchester, where the planes fly so low I wonder will i get home? From india to israel, ireland to krakow, with a heart never satisfied i roamed until i learned the lessons long enough to where all I ever needed anymore was the music. It didn't matter where i was now. It could have been dilapitated hollywood hotels or guest rooms of elegant seaside chateaus. You were always there for me, yes, I was never alone. You showed me, my very own Rosetta Stone. The map of my heart. and so the journey begins......with a guest of players a cast of shipmates, because i never intended on going solo. This album would not have been possible without the following players:Jaime Sol Black, Jeremy Black,Dave Holleman,Steve Seifert, Darwin Knaggs, Peter Distefano, Andy Troy, Dan Gospe, Sepe, Chris "Hype" Mayrena, Raffi abrahamian, Michael Vail Blum, Steve Thompson, Carlos Jennings, the great Marshaune Mack, and the ever incredible Suzie Shiaman. Thank you all for showing up on my album and making it much better then i could have on my own. and a special shout out to Kyla Kaplan for much needed help for my neurotic ass on the album cover. Thanks also to the Ferrick Family, grandma Sophie, the Bells, Ocean and Tika Moon, and Lauren Ciminera. Thanks also to Kirpal Singh, who's disciple Harbhajan Singh taught me about the holy naam, nectar of the universe that is always there for all to tap into when needed. and of course the Krapfenbauers.............
This album is dedicated in loving memory to Joseph Herrold 1973-2007
