Album Notes

Jeremy P Martin and the Locals are a soulful fusion of pop and uplifting folk blues. Armed with his irresistible riffs, soaring voice and witty banter, Jeremy has the innate ability to transform your world with the charm of his songs.

Born in the deepest south, Invercargill NZ and raised on the kiwi greats, you would be on the right track if you imagined JPM and the Locals walking a knife edge between the outright unforgettable and the musically adventurous. Based in Melbourne now since 2000 JPM has a glowing list of credits not the least of which include an International Conference Songwriting Commission, Brunswick, High Vibes and Kew Festival appearances plus all the countless pubs. Emerging like Godzilla from the studio after 4 years working as a producer Jeremy returns with a new band, a new album and a burning desire to at least destroy Tokyo.

“Level Up(2008) is totally disarming yet it’s one of the weirdest mixtures of tracks you’ll hear all year, kind of like having a cup of T with a Grandma who has a few years somewhere in her past that are completely unaccounted for, but it all came together for the launch at the Northcote Town Hall and now we’re taking that show on the road.”

The Locals, Scott Symes - drums, Roger Young – keyboard and James Stanford – bass, round out this 4 piece experience. Loud when there’s girls to impress, drinking up the riffs J furnishes them with, right on the money while they testify.

‘This man’s performances all over Melbourne have transfixed punters . . . freestyle acoustic guitar and soaring voice.’ –AndrewTijs(BEAT MAGAZINE)
