Album Notes

Jerin Falkner began writing music at the age of 13, and now, eight years later, she is integrating herself into the Tacoma music scene one gig at a time. Her unmistakable voice and genuine lyrics are her most noticeable assets but this 21 year old pop-folk artist can also play the guitar. Her melodies combined with her words make the perfect combination of music and emotion. She is truly one of the Northwest's premier female singer/songwriters.

Growing up a Washington native, Jerin is the third of four children and has been singing since almost before she could talk. Though she had been writing music for a couple years, it wasn't until college that she began playing small coffee shop shows. Jerin now performs monthly at Tacoma's own Shakabrah Java, where she doubles as a sound technician when she is not on stage. Unable to resist the lure of Seattle's music scene, Jerin was selected to participate in the regionally known Northwest Folklife 2004 and buskers at Pike Place Market for recreation on the weekends. She plans on pursuing more musical endeavors in Seattle after she graduates from the University of Puget Sound in May of 2005.

September 2004 will mark the release of Alive, Jerin's new LP that features eight tracks that reflect her vocal talents and style. Ranging from acoustic recordings to full band sets, Alive presents Jerin's music as it is meant to be heard; clear, sweet, and simple.

Simply Beautiful
author: Evan
Look up "pretension" in Websters New Collegiate Dictionary. Now skip to the words listed as its antonyms. Nestled squarely within that list is Jerin's first studio album, Alive. It is so obviously heartfelt, so strikingly simple and so beautifully serene that every track on the album serves as an oasis in the strange storm that is your iPod shuffle list. Her pure joy of playing and her emotional attachment to the songs are impossible to miss. Definitely go see her live - you'll never regret seeing her smile and cringe as she sings these songs - but in lieu of that pick up this album. I challenge anybody who hears this album all the way through to not fall immediately and irrevocably in love with Jerin.

This collection is my first of Jerin's music. I love the unique rhythms and musical expressions that she weaves into her songs. And the songs are easy to relate to, giving one a slice of life that is classic and something one would never tire of hearing.

Jerin Falkner's "Alive" is wonderful!
author: Nicholas Young
Alive continues the wonderful sounds that one can hear in the Pike Place Market. This CD takes many of the songs from her earlier album, Reflections, and reworks them to perfection. These songs remind me of the beautiful acoustic music of Joni Mitchell and Judi Collins. You will not be disappointed if you buy this CD.
