Album Notes

Jermain Maxwell...

JERMAIN MAXWELL is multi-talented and started enchanting audiences at the age of five in church. As a child he was always singing and dancing. He has always had the ability to retain melodies and lyrics very quickly. He is always working on honing his craft. He has released his debut album, “LONGTIME” and music video for "Gimme Your Body".

Vocally, he has been compared to the likes of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, both of whom he has been influenced by. However, he maintains his own melodic style. He is versatile, demonstrating great vocal control and a wide vocal range. What makes him unique is that he has recorded and released songs in the musical styles of R&B, Reggae, Dance and House. Furthermore, he entertains with a lot of expression, emotion and energy. JERMAIN’S talent does not stem from one source alone; he has danced in various groups, modeled and acted in theatre/film productions (Lot 1975, The Gods Are Not To Blame, Honey, My Baby’s Daddy and Redemption).

Summer 2008 found Jermain performing at Paris’ Club Gibus and London, England’s Troy Bar where he was well received. Last summer he took part in IPOP Las Vegas where he received awards for top ten in singing and acting. In Spring 2003 over 20,000 people across Canada auditioned in the first Canadian Idol competition. In June 2003, after getting through six consecutive auditions, JERMAIN landed himself in the TOP 30 in the competition. In addition to the press and media coverage that he received, he performed at a New York Yankees/Toronto Blue Jays baseball game at the Skydome (now called the Rogers Centre) in Toronto. The game took place July 2003; there were 40,000 people in attendance. In 2000 he was on the same bill as soul singer, Jill Scott and rapper, Mos Def at the Toronto Urban Music Festival. He was then selected to be on the same bill as gospel artist, Hezekiah Walker at the Ottawa Urban Music Festival. In 1997 he performed as an opening act for hip-hop diva Lil’ Kim at the Shock Nightclub in Toronto. In addition, his voice has been broadcast over various radio shows like Toronto’s 93.5FM, Ottawa’s Hot 89.9FM and Montreal’s 103.7FM.
