Album Notes

Jerry Day - Master of the L.A.Coffee-House Circuit spent over a year recording and mixing the "Take-Offs and Landings" CD.

Ten top Los Angeles Musicians and Vocalists are featured for a full-band sound and tasty solo passages.

Clever and funny lyric lines are well-complimented by the bluesy-down-home musical style. "Take-Offs and Landings" offers some hot-rockin' jump-tunes, some sweet and not-quite-serious ballads and some laugh-out-loud lyrics. The words sometimes flash from funny to poignant and back in one verse.

You will undoubtedly find songs on this CD that you will have to play for a friend just to see their reactions. You'll swear some of these songs come from the annals of blues and rock classics, but they are all original Jerry Day compositions. Each song has a separate distinct production and arrangement to it with a good song-to-song flow. These songs are likely to turn up in films, TV shows and other artists' CD's because of their vivid lyrics and their universal but personal appeal.

There is no problem hearing the words on this excellently mixed and balanced CD (Sound Path Labs, Los Angeles).

Jerry Day gave the session artists a lot of the spotlight, but if you listen for the acoustic guitar you can hear Jerry's distinct style of play which is more apparent and impressive if you see him in person playing and singing solo. Jerry Day has had careers as an actor and video producer which pay off in his performance and the graphics on his CD jacket. It looks and sounds like a big-label product.

The woman kicking him off the porch on his CD cover is Beverly Devens, his hair-cutter of 20 years. Jerry insists on plugging Beverly's salon called Barberia in Studio City, California.
