Jerry Wilde has been playing guitar for a very long time and it shows on "Steel on Steel." He has written and recorded another fine batch of tunes that allow him to use the slide guitar in a variety of innovative ways. He covers the obligatory long blues jam ("Steel on Steel") but also uses multiple tracks to do some harmonizing with dueling slides ("Jimi Hendrix's Shoes" and "The Devil You Know"). He even "whips it out"...his harmonica, that is, to add some color and flavor to the proceedings. If you like your blues with a dose of classic rock, "Steel on Steel" is a CD you really ought to check out.
