Jessica Paige is a young multi-award winning singer/songwriter from Melbourne - melodic alternative pop grooving rhythms and a pinch of jazz.
Jess and her band of Paige Boys have just been awarded a grant from the JB Seed Initiative for promotion and presentation of her second EP. Leading industry figures contribute to this grant, lead by John Butler. It is a testimony of their faith in Jessica's songs and potential.
A recent review on mp3.com.au said "This woman is amazing. Love the vocals. Love the Lyrics. This Gem is no ruff diamond. She is a Crystal of knowledge and power. She make you just relax and listen to her voice. She commands attention and she gets it."
Jessica started busking on Swanston Street, Melbourne, when she was 14. She released this EP "Back of Our Minds" in September 2004 and it has collected 6 songwriting awards, listed below, including a prestigious APRA Songwriter Award in Musicoz.
Jessica has been influenced by artists and bands that are strongly melodic and lyric-driven..like Billy Joel, Elton John, Rufus Wainwright, Simon and Garfunkle, Sheryl Crow and Stevie Wonder. Her own father is a master singer/songwriter, vocalist and guitar player (Steve Romig).
Some comments on the songs from her EP : - "Very nice sultry voice, vocal phrasing is on the money, with impressive lyrical melodies that draw the listener in.. a moving array of dynamic balance. I expect a promising future with a talent such as this. "
"... an incredible voice, those bluesy phrases.. some of the vocals blew me away. .. very talented."
" I love "Hate's A BAby". It got me hooked from the instant I heard it.... it builds up to the bloody awesome solo. It has a lot of emotion and I could really 'feel' it."
"What a find! I visited Jessica's site and found a song called "Sam." I loved it. This song has everything. It starts out soft and sweet and then leads into a chorus that makes you tingle. It is very sweet and has meaning. It's about a boy who dies from an illness. Her music is very mature. She has a sound similar to Nellie Furtado. Anyway I recommend it as I rate it amongst one of the best songs I have ever heard."
" First up, I dig the voice, very mellow... it is easy on the ears... and the cover art is an interesting piece all its own, good work folks, keep it up."
" I own the EP that this track comes from and it is receiving high rotation on my CD player! Jess has an amazing voice, she can re-produce it live without a problem and it is really amazing to hear. This song is one of the most beautifly crafted songs I've heard so far this year. The whole EP is great!!! Beautiful songs, beautiful voice. Go Jess!!! "
" This song is so beautiful! A precious gem waiting to be uncovered. .. such a beautiful voice and melody. I have downloaded this track and listened to it countless times, I can't wait to hear more! Good stuff Jess!"
" Nice job....you rely on a great sentiment and a great vocal approach. Soul and sense...a killer combination."
