Aww Hell! For a band plying trade in guitar music, what exactly is the point in telling you that all the band members used to play in pretty good bands from the town of their origin? What good is it to describe to you how the band will melt your face off live? None, right? In an attempt to describe JESUP DOLLY, this space is better served telling you about the content of the songs themselves. Now make no mistake, JESUP DOLLY is an Americana band. They are informed greatly by their Southern surroundings and upbringing. The songs are largely true to the oral storytelling traditions of the South. The characters in the songs are the salt of the Earth or the scum of the Earth depending on your point of view. Poor and sometimes desperate. Resorting to extremes because of it. Alcohol,guns,drugs,murder,redemption,escape, and being the length of the long arm of the law away from happiness figure heavily. The songs of JESUP DOLLY reflect that with a sly wink and a hint that we might do an end-around on the man...and get away Scott-free in the end.
