Jets To Theory has risen gloriously from the ashes of some of the finest bands Edmonton has produced, they have set their sights high, pushed the throttle full speed ahead
and are now ready for take off.
Singer/song writer Dean Lonsdale exudes an incredible amount of passion into his music. Formerly a guitarist for the nationally renowned band SOFT, Dean has spent years honing his craft as a song writer, writing songs that can tug at the heartstrings and take you to places that few have ever ventured.
After taking an almost two year hiatus from the music scene, bassist Davey Bacon [S.N.F.U and Idyll Tea] made a successful plea for Dean to get back in gear playing and writing music. Soon after, with the help of guitarist player Jamie Patterson [Tanyss Nixi and the Angry Mob, J.A.C.K. – United Kingdom] Jets To Theory was born.
After a couple months of rehearsing and writing, an opportunity presented itself – make a record with producer Phil Anderson (Keating, Tupelo Honey, Starewell) at Powersound Studios. Starting out in the summer of 2005 they masterminded their self-titled ‘Double EP’, that ended up being mastered by legendary producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Tea Party, Alexis On Fire). With the CD now complete, the band persevered in their search for a drummer and found Wade Staples, a veteran of the Edmonton music scene and a Grant MacEwan College of Music Alumni.
Jets To Theory was complete and ready to take on the world.
The line up now complete, much time has been spent sharpening the overall sound of the music with a focus on further honing the live show to a professional level, all in preparation of taking the band to a new level. That said, when it comes right down to it, it’s the passion for music and the desire to have a lot of fun doing it that motivates Jets To Theory.
Since the release of the ‘double EP’ in March, Jets To Theory have gotten a great range of support both in the press and at radio, including being picked to be Sonic 102’s Band Of The Month in May 2006, which then led to them getting asked to play at Sonic 102’s Canada Day party with other bands such as Drive By Punch and Murder City Sparrows. Their first single “Too Vamped Up” is still getting featured at radio stations across Canada.
