The John Earl Walker Band are veteran performers whose electric blues are very well received. Over the years, its members have made appearances on the same bill or played with Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, John Mayall and many more. The band has been together for many years; two of the members date back to their time as Capitol recording artists "Plum Nelly."
Their recent recordings have had airplay in North and South America, Australia and several European countries such as France, Spain, Russia, Belgium, Slovenia, The Netherlands, Poland and the UK.
John Earl Walker, the founder, lead guitarist and lead vocalist of the band, took up the guitar at age thirteen. Shortly thereafter, John began forming his own bands to play at local gigs. He also started writing his own music and lyrics, a practice he continues to this day, writing the majority of the material performed by the current band. By age sixteen, John was playing professional gigs in clubs with older bandmates. John cites Freddie and Albert King, T-Bone Walker and Majic Sam as his main influences as he developed his own unique style. John has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many well know artists during his career, including Muddy Waters, B B King, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, John Mayall and many others.
Bass guitartist John Murphy initially joined up with Walker when "Plum Nelly" moved to Los Angeles in the mid Seventies. John's second stint with Walker was from '79 through '83. He rejoined The John Earl Walker Band in 2001.
Drummer Bobby Infante first crossed paths with John Earl Walker in the mid Eighties when Bobby's group "The Housepainters" and Walker's band the "Safecrackers" played numerous gigs together. Bobby has played with Muddy Waters and Pinetop Perkins. He has been with the Walker band since 1990.
The John Earl Walker Band currently have two CD's available, including their most recent CD I'm Leavin' You, which contains ten new Walker originals. They are excited about the new release, which has already received airplay in the US and on several internet and International radio stations.
Walker released I'm Leavin' You which features fewer band members, but doesn't lose any of the band's muscular sound in the process. Walker's outstanding fretwork is still the catalyst,but there are some pretty good songs on this disc as well, including the title track, "My First Guitar,"
"Second Hand Man," "I Put You First," and "The Last Time."
Fans of blues/rock in the Hendrix/SRV vein will want to give this fine disc a listen. Its available at the band's website,www.johnearlwalkerband.com.

Power trio at its best!
author: Ben TaylorWhen I bought his album I had only heard one track `I'm leavin' you' which I thought was a killer slow blues so I was eager to hear the rest. I was not disappointed. There are no weak tunes here. All great originals with explosive guitar riffs. It brings to mind SRV and Double Trouble! Power trio at its best!
Mr. Earl sounds like "Lou Reed meets SRV".

Mr. Earl sounds like "Lou Reed meets SRV". The more I listen to it, the more I dig it. John Earl Walker's guitar has a low down natural sound. (No extra whistles and bells) and a vocal style all his own. John Murphy on bass and Bobby Infante on drums lay down a solid base for Mr. Walker to work his magic on. I can clearly see why this band is so popular in the local clubs.Walker's songwriting and guitar playing both have a good sense of humor mixed with some very tasty licks. This is the kind of band I love to see live. My absolute favorite is "I Turn To You". Great lyrics and smokin' guitar. "Second Hand Man" has a nice funky groove. I'm sure this one gets the crowd up on the dance floor. The album ends on a rockin' note with "My Baby's Got Plans". Nice blend of guitar and harp licks. If I were you I would find out where these guys are playing and go see them live. While you're there, buy a copy of this new CD. A nice addition to your Blues library. - Jim Tillerman

John Earl Walker is no newcomer to the music game, having been a professional guitar player since the mid 60’s. This experience certainly shines through on the The John Earl Walker Band’s new release I’m Leavin’ You. This is perfect, smoky, bar room blues. All the songs feature highly driving guitar riffs with excellent solo work that ranges from soft textured blues licks to wailing rock tones. Walker’s powerful guitar is backed up by fantastic rhythm from John Murphy on bass and Bobby Infante on the drums. This album develops a great mood and is the perfect soundtrack for a night of drinking whiskey and playing pool at the local watering hole. My favorite track had to be “The Last Time”. Not only the longest on the album, but a standout in subject matter. Few artists can effectively take the subject of murder and put a delightfully hilarious spin on it as Walker and his cohorts were able to. Some of the other highlight tracks are “My First Guitar” and “Sad Sad Day”. The John Earl Walker Band delivers a solid collection of ten blues rock tunes that beg for a repeated listen and would make a great addition to any jukebox.
An album with a hard and uncompromised rock/blues sound
author: MLADEN LONCAR - MIKEOK, here we go…the first album is “I’m leaving you”/Orchard/2003 Allthough John Earl Walker isn’t an anonymous name, especially in the USA, I have to say the situation here is totally the opposite-I have a feeling that John Earl Walker and his band are unknown to our audience. John Earl Walker has been in the professional music bussines since the mid 60-ies and the “I’m leaving you” album is practically the bands’ first album. The whole album is characterized by pure and unpretentious guitar passages and riffs which, together with an excellently synchronized rhythm section, produce a genuine and balanced texture that can be recognized in all the songs featured on this album. And these songs are: Gonna Miss Me/ Walker/5:26 I'm Leavin' You/ Walker/4:51 I Put You First/ Hayslett, Walker/2:55 My First Guitar /Walker/5:25 I Turn to You/ Walker /4:52 Second Hand Man / Walker/4 :15 Sad Sad Day/ Walker /5:01 Treat Me Right / Walker /4:46 The Last Time/ Walker/6:36 My Baby's Got Plans/Walker /4:11 I would like to single out four of these songs that are especially dear to me and they are: The Last Time, Sad Sad Day, My First Guitar i Gonna Miss Me.
