Bakersfield born Julie Fucking Potter has been showcasing her talents as improviser, stand-up comedian, and rapper since 2004. She has participated in such widely diverse festivals as the San Francisco Improv Festival, QComedy, and Peace Out. Julie studied improv with Rachel Miller (Boom Chicago, Amsterdam), Jill Mueller-Eickman (Lila Theatre, San Francisco), and David Razowsky (Second City, Los Angeles), among others, and has been an active member of the growing San Francisco improv community, performing with Lila Theatre, Beatnik Syndicate, and Crisis Hopkins. Following a stand-up workshop at the Hyena Club in SF, Julie performed her hilarious sets at such San Francisco venues as Canvas Café, The Chieftain, and 50 Mason, and has also appeared at the Laugh Lounge in New York. Currently, Julie is living a dream by earning her Master's in Comedy from LA's rich improv community.
As a rapper she has been deeply dedicated to the art of hip hop her entire life, and the maturity and expressive power of her first rap album, Exodus, portends a formidable career. She appeared in 12 cities across the Southwest as part of the Homorevolution Tour 2007, the first ever LGBT rap tour, and has also performed at Long Beach Pride, the San Diego Dyke March, and San Francisco Pride, where she appeared on the Main Stage before an audience of thousands. She has received national media attention from The Advocate and RollingStone.com, plus Bay Area coverage from East Bay Express, SF Weekly, and Out Spoken TV. In June she traveled to New York to perform on Eminem’s Sirius Satellite Radio station, Shade 45. Also, JFP favorite “Straight Bitches” was picked up by Myrina Films for a lesbian short staring Jenny Shimizu and is set to debut at the 2009 In side Out Film Festival in Toronto. In December 2008 JFP was featured in Curve Magazine, the nation’s 1 best-selling lesbian magazine.
Now, 2009 has started with a vengeance! JFP is back in the studio recording her sophomore album, Yes Please! She is also deeply committed to equal rights for all people and has just released a song about California’s Proposition 8, called Never Disappear with her love CNOTE.
