Album Notes

Jeffrey Frederick's strong voice whose range knew no boundaries and great humor that had no conscience once again charms us with a rollicking good time. This is Jeffrey at his ripest.

The collective talents that comprised Jeffrey's band Les Clams, are what makes
"ooh la la...Les Clams" the delectable CD that it is. Jeffrey's fabulous vocals and outstanding guitar playing, Dave Reisch, solid bassist vocalist extraordinaire treat us to songs that never cease to please. Michael Shade, pulls it all out of his guitar, Richard Tyler, making the piano sing through his fingers, Bruce Sweetman, with his sardonic fiddle, and Roger 'Willie North, holding it all together on drums. If you want a CD that oozes talent "ooh la la...Les Clams" is it.

Jeffrey is best known for his bands, Jeffrey Frederick and the Clamtones, Jeffrey Frederick and Les Clams, and The Jeffrey Frederick Band. He is also remembered for his connection to the Rounders. When Jeffrey was the front man on stage they were the Clamtones and when Steve Weber (The Holy Modal Rounders) was front man they were the Rounders. The folk hit "Have Moicy", a collaboration of Jeffrey and his Clamtones,
The legendary Michael Hurley, and Peter Stampfel of the Unholy Modal Rounders,
Was reported by Robert Christgau of the Village Voice, the best LP of 1976. Rolling Stone, named "Have Moicy" in its top thirty albums of the decade.

REVIEWS

This CD is a true good-feelin' folky boogie session!

This is the best you can currently get from the late Jeffrey Frederick. Jeffrey is on fire in this album. The well Jeff draws from ranges from his own music to Michael Hurley, to Danny Mack, and is played consitantly by an excellent ensamble. Highlights include "Late For Dinner", "Drivin Wheel", Blue Navigator", "Dog Show", and the rest of the CD. The album is just a good old, down home, ramblin' boogie-fest. Thanks Kathryn for putting this out!
