Solo Piano. A 9 foot Steinway...a beautiful studio...years of piano playing...some classical music, some jazz, a lullaby...
For years and years I have performed as a solo pianist. I'm classically trained yet alot of the music I play is jazz-I've studied and played jazz for years. It's never made sense to me to limit my solo piano playing to one style. I just like to play music that sounds great on the piano: Gershwin, Chopin, Debussy, Hoagy Carmichael. There is a variety of classical and jazz music but it all flows together in a relaxing fashion.
I'm grateful to my classical training for teaching me how to make the piano sing and to my jazz playing for a sense of swing.
This is a CD to put on to unwind. The classical pieces are lyrical and the jazz swings but it's not edgey. Put it on and cook a great dinner (or get out the takeout). It's ambiance as you eat or work. Let your mind hum.

Excellent mix of piano solo selections played extremely well
author: Newt MacCormackThis is one of the best (if not the best) collections of classical and popular piano pieces I've ever heard. These pieces are some of my favorites, and JoAnn Funk performs them with great taste and artistry.
A Wonderfully Performed Collection for Watching the Fire on a Cool Night
author: JohnImagine watching the fire in a chimanea, fireplace or in the boonies on a cool night with a fresh breeze, holding hands. This CD enhanced the experience for me and the wife. I hope JoAnn keeps on playing!
a winning mix; clearly JoAnn loves each of these pieces and trusts the hearer wi
author: Terry Kidnerthis CD was given as a Christmas present with the note, "not sure if you'll like this, but it's very pretty." In fact, JoAnn's Xmas album had grown on me with two years' hearing, and this album is an even more welcome surprise! I appreciate that J. has included compositions she really loves and has not been afraid to mix them up-- personal favorites: Bach Prelude One; the Andrew Lloyd Webber selection (cheesy but fabulous); TooRaLooRaLooRa (or however the heck you spell it) which my mother once sang to me. I've played it over and over. Thanks, JoAnn!

author: Lowell PickettShe has a beautiful and lyrical touch and a sense of time that allows the notes to linger in the air for a moment before gently sweeping down and brushing the ear, heart and soul of the listener. The music is gentle and it swings, and with each hearing it seeps in just a little deeper with it's warmth and beauty.
