Album Notes

Jane Hammett is a singer, actor, teacher and director who has been an award-winning performer in opera and musical theater in the San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty years. Her coloratura soprano voice has won widespread acclaim throughout her career. Her growing understanding of the role of vibrational frequency in health and healing has defined her study and practice of both singing and vibrational medicine. In her work she focuses her efforts directly and indirectly to bring about frequency harmonics in all aspects of performance, seeking resonances which can create a healing experience for the audience. She is a certified Reiki therapist and co-founder of a frequency based healing modality.

Daniel Lockert is a pianist, organist and harpsichordist whose particular love and specialty is accompanying singers and instrumentalists. As special collaborator to the singer, he is guided by the power of the text to his choice of coloration on the keyboard, and the music's intention is then in partnership transmitted to the listener. Daniel is convinced that music has special healing qualities that can touch lives in an intangible way. He has a special affinity for the art song, chamber music, and cabaret, because of the intimacy of these mediums and their unique ability to create a shared experience between performers and audience -- something increasingly needed in the spectacle-obsessed and "special effects age" in which we live.

Beckoning. Earnest. Beautiful. There is a warmth and gentleness that caress the songs and the listener. Hammett brings amazing musical and emotional understanding to this CD. There is a sense of longing, and a sense of belonging. I feel "at home" when I listen.

This is a CD that achieves beauty in both sound and spirit. It is luxurious textually, and as a journey through another era it speaks of a simpler time, yet a time when the yearning was profound. The lush and vibrant vocals and the beautiful piano arrangements provide a modern landscape for these gentle songs, and the listner is utterly transported throughout the journey Home. Brava!

Impassioned, inspired stylings of songs you were sure were dead

If you just read the song list of Home, A Healing Journey, you will likely have the same reaction I did: Ho hum, what possible vocaL stylings could breathe life into moribund old chestnuts like After The Ball? But the passion, sensitivity and tenderness- not to mention the sheer, stunning talent and ability - with which Jane Hammett and Daniel Lockert infuse the words and music of these standards will make you reach for your keyboard to write a review just like this one, that is, if you can still see through the mist in your eyes. Buy it, love it and share it with those you love.
