notes
Jerry Henry is no stranger to making music. The son of two prominent Milwaukee musicians, he has been around music all his life. He made his first public appearance playing in his father's variety band at the age of 12. By age 14 he was a full-time member of the band which toured Europe several times and played hundreds of engagements throughout the Midwest while releasing an album and several singles. By age 16 Jerry was proficient enough at the guitar to be teaching at Milwaukee's Rosewood Music Center. During the 1980's Jerry performed regularly with regional bands including the popular top 40 band "Image" which traveled to gigs in their renovated school bus. The band dissolved in the late 1980's and Jerry set out to pursue the music he enjoys most...rockin' electric blues.
Following the example set by his father, Jerry enlisted the talents of his own son Eric, who has become a talented musician in his own right, on bass guitar. Veteran drummer Don Lincoln, who has worked steadily over the past 25 years performing and recording with such notables as Wisconsin's popular Tuck Pence, rounds out the trio. The tight foundation laid down by Eric and Don provides a firm platform for Jerry's inspired guitar work and professional showmanship.
Combining musical influences such as Hendrix, Trower, Santana, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jerry's playing has evolved into a style of it's own. His band's music is a unique blend of 5 decades of blues and classic rock n' roll. Packing a wide range of dynamics and intensity into each performance, their musical presentation relies heavily on the guitar as a lead and rhythm instrument. The genre has become so popular with live audiences throughout the mid-west that, after delivering a jaw-dropping set in 2002, they were asked back for a repeat performance at the prestigious Joe Bucher's Bluesfest in Eagle River, WI in 2003.
In 2005, the "Rockin' The Blues" CD broke onto the Top 20 Blues chart in Europe with the track "Lucille", while another track, "Messin' With The Kid", slid into the Top 100 in the UK.
For the past 30 years Jerry has enjoyed his journey down the winding musical road. Whether headlining his own shows, gigging with a veteren blues band like Deep Water Reunion, or opening a show for blues giants like Bernard Allison or Tinsley Ellis, he enjoys sharing his unique brand of rockin' blues with an international fan base and looks forward to continuing his musical endeavors well into the future.

WoW!! Does exactly what it says on the tin!! AWESOME
author: Andy Wilson - UKRockin' the Blues, what a fantastic CD. The Trio compliment each other so well and are tighter than Cher's butt cheeks. Jerry Henry lets loose the full Blues Lick Library on us with exceptional Tone and articulation. There are very few CD's that I listen to all the way through without skipping tracks here & there, each time I listen to it I end up with a different favorite. Rather than note different tracks, just listen to the samples, they will be enough to give you a taster of this cracking record. J Henry demonstrates his own playing style that incorporates techniques of the greats such as Chuck, Jimi and Austins Fav Stevie Ray Vaughan. I also defy you not to grin during the vocals on Messin with the Kid. I recon that Jerry's Fender Strat must sleep well knowing that it is living the life that it was created for. Congrats on a job done well, Jerry Henry - Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards & percussion, Don Lincoln - Drums, Eric Magayne - Bass, Vocals. Thanks also to CDBaby for the efficient and cheap postage to the UK. Keep up the good work.
From the heart right to the strings... mind blowing elswhere
author: Paul Bondarovski - Midnight Special Blues RadioSome days ago one listener asked me to play more of Jerry Henry Band... I already had one of his songs on the playlist, so added two more. One of them, 'Closing Time Blues', enetered the station charts right at #1. Great, but - I couldn't explain it... I listened to the song more and more, and then suddenly felt that the artist seems to "simply" let his fingers play while his mind is blowing elsewhere... Fingers transmitting his feelings from the heart right to the strings. I believe this is what makes Jerry Henry's music so honest. It's this Honesty that makes a good artist great.

Great-the album title says it best: Rockin' the Blues!
author: Steven HammontreeI really like the CD. It has some great searing guitar parts - some in the style of my favorite all time guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn. I would recommend it to anyone who loves good raunchy Texas style blues-rock. From the kickin' title song to Roadhouse King and then the mellow Closing Time Blues I think Blues lovers will find most of these songs to their liking.
Buy 2, you will need them
author: Dave BriccoThis CD takes you in so many directions it is jaw dropping. Jerry and the band have passion and fire in their souls and they have brought it all to life on Rockin'The Blues. I am telling you, buy 2 of these CDs because if you lend one out, you will not get it back for awhile.
