ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
J-Hind, born as D.Sharma, is a Los Angeles born East Indian Artist/Producer/Writer. He is also the CEO of DreamTime Music Group and Sister Company Desi Inc. located in Los Angeles, California. J.Hind is a 28 year old Indian male, with sounds and styles comparable to Hip Hop's current top contenders.

His musical quest began as a child touring internationally with his grandfather and playing “Dholak”, (an Indian drum played with bare hands) as well as singing backup Qawali vocals. His family was originally from Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), India, however they were taken by force from India to the Fiji Islands by the British (East India Company) in the late 1800’s. In Fiji, his grandfather became the countries top Qawali singer by his mid twenties and went on to record several albums, including his hit album “Mehefil Yaranaa” in Bombay, India. J.Hind trained with his grandfather from the age of five well into his early teen years, until eventually his love for Hip Hop overpowered all.

Determined to be the face of Desi Hip Hop, J.Hind strategically joined forces with local hip hop artists, producers, and engineers who could help him to create his “Signature Sound”. Working with well known artists such as BaddAzz from the Dog Pound, Lil Zane, Ja Rule, Tupac’s producer “Johnny J.”, and his current producer A.R. Stylez, helped him to develop a very artistic yet commercially savvy sound. J.Hind’s keen leadership and entrepreneurial abilities enabled him to form his own label at the age of 24, and so came the birth of DreamTime Records. He went on to producing other artist’s albums as well as attaining clients with nationally syndicated shows such as “Hollywood Hamilton’s weekly Top 30”, which recorded right out of J.Hind’s studio. One of these clients was world renowned producer Johnny J. who is better known as Tupac’s primary producer. Johnny J. fell in love with J.Hind’s music and studio facility and offered to buy the label. However with a strong sense of commitment to his music and his independence, J.Hind only sold his facility. He then built a new facility in Los Angeles, and formed Dreamtime Music Group which recently launched the Desi sister company, Desi Inc.

Heavily influenced by his family’s strong Qawali background and combined with his life-long commitment to the worldwide Hip Hop movement, "J-Hind" is ready to create history! He has fine tuned his signature sound, which combines the best of both worlds, the East Indian sounds and music he grew up with as well as the American hip hop which has inspired his life. Partner that with his powerful vocal delivery and you have a new standard for Desi hip hop. There are several markets on his mind, however Young Indians and Desi's throughout the world are his main concern at this time. His Debut American album “Special Delivery” brings much anticipation, however there is currently a greater buzz being generated in the East Indian community in regards to J.Hind’s debut “Desi Dreams” Hip Hop album to be released under the Desi Inc. label in 2008.

J.Hind was recently featured as a principle with John Travolta in a "Heineken /Be Cool" Commercial which was aired throughout Europe, Japan, Internet, and Airlines as well! He also performed for MTV Desi at Project Puerto Rico with RDB and Jay Sean. The show aired on MTV Desi as well as RDB TV late February, 2006. J.Hind is currently reviewing scripts for debut roles, in efforts of launching his film career. With plans of collaborations for his debut album with artists such as RDB, Jay Sean, Raghav, Thara, Rishi Rich, Snoop Dogg, Lucky Ali, Damian Marley, Sean Paul and more, he is well on his way towards his goal of setting new standards for Desi Hip Hop and R&B.
