"Movin' On" is deep, honest songwriting and upbeat, catchy music. Marcell Marias http://marcellmarias.com/

"Our new favorite group is the Jillian Graham Band. Jillian has a strong, melodious voice. The energy between her and the bass player, her husband Jim Graham, is fun to watch. Steve Torgerson played the drums well. Jillian's tunes are delicious, and her lyrics are moving." Seattle Gay News

"You guys sounded great - I heard a bit of Natalie Merchant in some of your songs" Brad B, Seattle

"Just been listening to your music - you have a lovely heartfelt voice with some great guitar melodies. Your music has a timeless feel to it :-) nice work!" Henta E, Seattle

"Jill, you've probably been told this a bunch of times now, but you have a real lyrical gift and an uncommonly expressive voice! Your singing style "grabs" the listener and you have many different vocal inflections and ways of phrasing that always seem to fit the lyrics so that it sounds like you're really telling a story. I like the way you don't sing every song the same, or every part of a song. And you have a very soulful voice that you go into some times, like at the end of the first song - that really wowed me." Bill R Boston, MA

"Your sound is fantastic" Wendy Manning, Third Place Books, Events Manager/Buyer

"Jillian: You are a wonderful singer and arranger!...Your voice is so beautiful and haunting and I am so impressed and grateful that you've taken the time to help with my poem." Judy A

"You are such a gifted songwriter, both instrumentally and linguistically. It was our pleasure to sit and listen to your songs. I think you really have something to share with the world." Susan

"I am impressed with your musical talents. Your voice reminds me of Chrissie Hynde and your music is very emotional and sensitive! I cant wait to hear you and your group in person. Always so much more impactive! " Joan W, Seattle

"You are exceptional musicians and I think the material is fresh, melodically interesting, and the instrumentation shows a new approach to proven methods.. having lead by the bass instead of guitar gets my bass player juices flowing! Thanks for coming out. You are delightful." -Linda Phelps, Daman's Tavern, Redmond, WA

"We really enjoyed your music and fell in love with your voice. For sure, you have a beautiful voice. Even beneath the words and music, we felt your special message." -Saeko H, Bellevue WA

"What beautiful music!!! I am playing them a lot. My neighbor is a guitar player, he wants to listen to it also. Hey, maybe we will have our own Jillian Graham Band party!" B Williams, Strasburg, VA

"Wow! These are great songs! I have to admit, usually when I listen to a CD or MP3s from a friend (sometimes even a full-time pro musician friend), I'm seriously underwhelmed. Usually, it's at least because of the production and so on, but often it's the tunes too. But I found myself really enjoying these songs - my favorite, for some reason, is "Melt." I love everything about that song, including the guitar sound." B Rodrick, Boston MA

What a powerful voice; such talent.. You are an INSPIRATION. Keep it up!! Haley G, Seattle
You have a great set of pipes! I think "Before You Go" is my favorite." Cheers, Jeremy T, Seattle

"We all like to your new music. One of my friends, who lives in Osaka, Japan, likes to listen too, so I will send your CD to her." -Saeko H, Bellevue WA

Jillian Graham Band: "Movin On"
Jillian began singing in school choral groups. She is self-taught and has played throughout the Seattle area, New England, and in Seoul Korea. Graham's band is made up of Jim Graham, on bass, Steve Torgerson, on drums, and of course, Jillian Graham, on vocals, guitar, and keys.
"Jillian was asked to sing the Korean National Anthem for the 2010 IKAA International Korean Adoptee Gathering in Seoul Korea. The former President's wife was one of the guests along with adoptees from all over the world, and much press. She went on to play Korean radio and at a few live shows in Seoul. She has since performed for numerous Korean music events and adoptee gatherings singing in both Korean and English. Graham is a member of the PNW Folklore Society, and is an organizer for a large singer/songwriter group "Songwriters in Seattle". She believes in giving back and "playing it forward" and has organized and performed for many charity and fundraising benefits", (http://www.reverbnation.com/JillianGrahamMusic, 2012).
Jillian and her band have created some well-written folk/blues, mixed with jazz tracks that will have your feet tapping to keep up with the beat on tracks like "Some Days". Then, she will try to melt your heart with sad love's lost songs like "Out of the Blue" or "Don't say Goodbye". The title track, "Movin' On" is a great travelling song full of emotion and a little country twang.
"Melt" and "Love is All Around Us" are two of the best tracks on the album. The anticipation in Graham's voice is a perfect effect blended with great guitar, bells and drums. If those tracks were good, then "Find Me' is the best track on the album. It is full of power and emotion. It has a classic 60's folk sound that echoes back from the past. "The Fence" has some of the best guitar playing on the album.
"I Wish for You (Song for my father)" is a very deep and emotional song that harkens back to some of the folk songs you might remember from your youth. A very beautiful tribute song.
Graham has a deeper and more dynamic sound to her voice than you might assume from her appearance.
If you are in search for something different from your regular music, this album might just be exactly what you need.

Review: Jillian Graham Band "Movin’ On" - Independent
Jillian Graham began singing in choirs as a child, but as with so many, adolescence brings new interests, and before long real life takes over. Her rediscovery of music began in earnest in 2006 when she bought herself a guitar, and began learning chords and writing songs. She met her husband Jim Graham (a professional bass player), and in 2009 they formed the band.

A quick glance at their concert resume indicates a band who hit the ground running, and one that quickly earned a reputation amongst gig-goers, as regular shows throughout the Pacific North West, New England and as far afield as South Korea surely confirms. They’ve yet to make it to the UK, but on the evidence of their debut recording, I’m sure there’s an audience here ready and waiting.

What instantly apparent is they don’t rely on any single style. Folk, rock, pop and blues all play their part, and Graham’s rich alto voice provides a continuous tread throughout the album’s 14 tracks. She’s certainly unafraid to wear her heart on her sleeve, and it’s this vulnerability and openness, combined with a lyrical lightness of touch that provides much of their appeal. That and some fine chops – the band all provide superb support, propelling the songs along in a most agreeable fashion.

Highlights are plenteous: “Some Days” comes out of the traps slow and purposeful, and when the band kicks in it’s big grins all round, and the more demonstrative may feel the need for an air punch. “You Mean the World to Me” is just a delight, and when Graham’s singing songs for her parents, “Find Me” and “I Wish for You”, she hits emotional highs while cleverly avoiding the mush.

Review for "Movin On" CD by Jillian Graham
"Movin' On", the latest release from Jillian Graham Band is a beautifully recorded CD. Solid, sparse arrangements of guitar, bass and drums seem perfectly suited to Jillian's rich, full bodied vocals. Her heart felt lyrics have a clarity and emotional honesty about them. The songs are delivered with an kind of sweet conversational directness that is captivating. Many of the tracks on this C.D. feature themes of letting go and letting in new love. "Out on the Blue", one of my favorite songs on the recording, has lyrics celebrating the dreamlike quality of a perfectly matched new love, "Have I met you before with my eyes closed". The lilting vocal style and electric guitar arrangements are reminiscent of beautiful ballads from late sixties bands such as Sandy Denny and the Fairport Convention. Another wonderful track on this CD is "Find Me". The song deals with loss and grief with a hopeful, transformative twist. The guitar and rhythm arrangements have a kind of alternative pop sound and the vocals are delivered with a powerful emotional range that is in perfect keeping with the epiphany of this song.
"Movin' On" is very uplifting collection songs from the Jillian Graham Band. I highly recommend giving this one a listen, or many listens.

"Moving on" - a truly wonderful album!
Jillian has the most amazing voice and evokes deep emotion from her delivery and lyrics. Her voice undulates between soft and sensitive, to soaring high with great power. Her music is very heartfelt, melodic, uplifting and very moving and has a timeless and special quality that puts her in a class of her own. My favourite song from her album is "Find me" which she wrote about the search for her unknown Mother. It is beautiful, moving and haunting and I feel this would appeal to listeners on many levels.

Jillian is an extremely credible artist who remains true to herself. She is also a great live performer too, an accomplished guitarist and has a varied writing style making her a wonderful collaborative artist.
