Album Notes

Born in South Carolina and raised on an island just outside of Savannah Georgia, Knight's soulful sound is unmistakable.
India Arie quoted on stage during her performance, "I heard this amazing voice and had to follow that sound" when referring to one of Knight's shows that she attended in San Francisco. She later asked Knight to be her opening act.

A finalist at the Telluride Troubadour songwriters competition, 2nd place at the LA Music Scenes "Acoustic live" songwriting competition, a finalist at the National Academy of Songwriters "songwriter of the year" competition, a finalist in Billboard magazines, "best unsigned band" contest, a regional best seller in Album Network magazine for her album Future Perfect, and voted as one of the best DIY albums in Performing Songwriter Magazine.

Jill has toured and shared stages with India Arie, Shawn Colvin, David Wilcox, Michael Hedges, Phoebe Snow, Richard Thompson, Little Feat, The Doobie Brothers, David Lindley, Chris Isaac, Laura Nero, John Prine, Los Lobos and Delbert Mclinton.

"It's hard to say which is better-the song or the way Jill Knight sings it."
Performing Songwriter vol. 6 #35

"Few songwriters seem to have the self-assurance that this singer possesses...Knight approaches her music with an unadorned intensity, her songs pack an emotional punch rich in the details of everyday experiences... this is first rate, high quality music"
Dirty Linen #80

"With a voice that crests and tumbles like a waterfall, and a fearless honesty burning through the core of her songs, Knight is as elemental as the wind."

Love Jill Knight Solo, Used to see her in SLO Town. The cd is great but a little over-produced. It won't stop me from buying more. Jill, you are a terrific guitarist. You have a beautiful, resonant voice. I long for those Spindle days once more.

My wife and I heard Jill's voice at the San Fran pier. At first it sounded lyrically alot like Alanis Morrisette but after listening to a few more songs it was reminiscent of Melissa Etheridge. Love the CD and feel like I found a gem much like the day I first heard Dan Fogelberg.

Awesome voice like no other!

I fell in love with Jill's voice as I was walking down from Ghiradelli Square towards Pier 39. I heard this soulful, raspy, sensuous voice accompanied by guitar from The Cannery. I knew then that I would be taken to another place, another time. She sings and plays so well that the imagery of her lyrics become a reality. Time passes in front of me and lovely remembrances of love long lost. Thank you Jill for taking there!
