Who is She?
An authentic, 100-year-old stage coach stop nestled in the mountains between Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley, California called "Cold Spring Tavern" (coldspringtavern.com) created the backdrop for Jill's auspicious debut as a professional singer at the tender age of 12. Born and raised in Southern California, Jill - accompanied by her father on harmonica - performed for any and all a captive audience who would listen to their repertoire of Western folk songs. According to Jill, these early musical experiences are some of her fondest childhood memories.
Since then her career has never ceased. For nearly eight years, Jill and her husband Steve fronted the popular Santa Barbara-based band Miles & Miles, releasing a CD entitled "A Distant World" in the mid-nineties. She then followed with a second independent album release "Something Beautiful for You" inspired by her solo treks to Nashville. Her third album, "It's Been Too Long" caught the attention of the legendary Buck Owens who invited her for an impromptu appearance at his renowned Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California. This and subsequent regular appearances over the following two years elevated Jill's profile to a world-wide audience via live web and radio broadcasts from the Crystal Palace. Some of the West Coast's finest pickers can be heard on this album including steel guitar player J.D. Maness, fiddler Gabe Witcher and multi-instrumentalist Jim Monahan (formerly of the Desert Rose Band).
Also available from Cyclone Records on CDBABY hear the release "HEAVENLY HONKY TONK” which features the wonderfully entertaining lyrics of Jill’s mother Carol Dempsey set to original music and vocals by Jim Monahan. This album contains a ‘don’t miss’ version of the classic “Banks of the Ohio” sung by Jill.
