Album Notes

JIM is the quintessential party band... but whoa! Hold up; they've got a lot of catchy, introspective, self indulgent song writing, too. To be sure, they have plenty of humorous drinking songs (they do have to play in bars for a living), but if there are themes to JIM's ethos they are scathing social commentaries and iconoclastic observations about:life, death, love, friends, and ...beer.

Their web site says, "Loud, Irreverent, Rock 'n Roll Music." The press release that accompanied this CD states, "Thoreau meets Elvis." I have to say as I read the liner notes and whatnot I'd have been more inclined to agree with the web site's assessment of things. {From the editorial remarks for Felony: "This one's got all the necessary requirements for a good time; underage girls, booze, firearms, violent crime, etc."} As I listened and read on, I definitely saw the Thoreau meets Elvis in songs like "Nothing to See", "What it Be Like?", and "Billy Goat". The CD comes to a close with polar opposites; "Limprock", a fantastic, heavy, tongue-in-cheek epic that you'll just have to listen to, to believe, and the beautiful and soft ballad entitled, "Wish".
