Jim Anger is first and foremost a folk musician; but if he has a specialty, it is singing and playing for and with kids! In a group of musicians, Jim is the one most likely to be performing songs such as Utah Phillips' "Daddy, What's A Train?," "She'll Be Comin''Round The Mountain,"
"Frog Went A-Courtin," or the Woody Guthrie classic, "This Land Is Your Land."
Jim has shared children's music programs at elementary schools and middle schools, public libraries, scout programs, coffeehouses, and folk music festivals. To provide variety in his music, Jim uses both six-string and 12-string guitars, a tenor banjo he plays guitar style, a strum stick, an echo harp, and several harmonicas.
While all of Jim Anger's music is family-friendly, his CD "Rainbow in the Sky" is especially a children's album. It really is an album for children of all ages. Jim is a singer-songwriter, so naturally several of his own compositions are found on the album, but the CD also contains songs by Utah Bruce Phillips, Larry Penn, the late Malvina Reynolds, and Bill Staines.
One song on the album, "Right Back To You," has the theme that if you care about and help others, good things will come right back to you. Jim had help in writing several verses of the song from five classes of 4th grade students, along with their teachers. The song was recorded at Keshena Primary School on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin, where Jim has taught language arts and reading. The kids who helped write it sang along with Jim on the recording of the song. So, logically, proceeds from the album go right back to children through donation of the song's proceeds to the Menominee Reservation Toys for Tots program.
The CD's front cover says Jim Anger and Friends. That's because Jim brought in several friends and family members to share their instrumental and or vocal talents on the album. Jim says doing that always makes the music better!

Jim Anger sure has a place in the choir of folk musicians
author: Steven Zelin
Jim Anger sure has a place in the choir of folk musicians. This CD has a colorful blend of folksy songs that are easy on the ear. You feel like Jim is right there with you singing around a campfire. The songs have simple production featuring guitar and vocals, with the occasional violin, harmonica and kazoos. "Car Wash" is a playful song. "Keepers of the Earth" has a good message, Jim is a great guy who loves to share songs with children.

I like Watchin' Whales because of the words and the beat. I like the words because they remind me of the ocean. I've seen whales in the Pacific.

Once again Jim takes us on a happy journey. You can tell from the first notes that Jim has a real passion for keeping his music “pure” and “real”. In a computer world, this is very unusual, way to go Jim, keep up the great work!
