December 2008 Review By Catherine L. Tully - INDIE MUSIC.com
If you are looking for a Christmas music that is excellent and heartfelt, this is the CD. Jim Bohn brings his own unique style to songs such as "Away In A Manger" and "Hark The Herald Angels Sing," and it is really wonderful. Bohn's voice is smooth and sure and the music is terrific. The breathy, country version of "Silent Night" is a lovely addition to the lineup.
The songs are arranged so that you don't hear the same old thing, but rather a new phrase here and there -- a new interpretation. Different enough to be fresh, but not so out there as to be unrecognizable. The guitar features prominently and all the musicianship is top notch. His friends round out the album quite nicely with their talents.
"The First Noel" is a pretty piano piece that would suit anyone's taste -- one of my favorites on the CD. Gentle, yet emotional, it delivers. All nine tracks are worth listening to, and the album would make a lovely addition to any holiday event. Especially if you tire of the same old sounds.
Bohn contributes something new to the holiday. I'm planning on having it on in my house.

Jim Bohn - What Child Is This? - Review: MUSIC MORSELS
Incredible musicianship and vocal work ranging from bluesy wail to stunning choral arrangements enhance this CD from Grafton, WI's multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Jim Bohn. “O Come Emmanuel” takes you from a church-like setting to a back alley blues bar, with delicious guitar licks from Bohn. “Noel” is a marvelous piano opus. An absorbing collection proving how someone can use his talents to the fullest of his abilities to bring a little holiday cheer.

Everyone has heard the Christmas songs for so long, I wonder if we even hear the words at all! This CD was born out of a collaboration with my old fiddler friend Norbert Greis many years ago. We did Christmas concerts at various benefits, with just guitar and fiddle, and eventually stumbled on some very interesting melodies and arrangements of traditional Christmas songs.
Norb's melodies were particularly beautiful, so we added more ... drums, bass, electric guitar... the rest is history... for the Season of Christ's Incarnation.
This CD is a mixture of Moody Blues and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, along with a number of other styles...performed by these fine musicians and singers...

This is what the seasons for!
author: Rick Ponton
Yeah, I bought the CD 6 months after christmas, but i listened through it anyway, and I love it just the same. I own very few christmas CD's, becaude usually I don't much like them. I on't really like the "fluff" christmas songs, but what we have here is a true collection of advent season songs. Of course Jim Bohn does me a service in that the first track is my favorite advent song in the world. Everyone should have this in the mix at christmas.

Really, really lovely
author: Kerry Smith
Over the years I've accumulated quite a few Christmas CD's--and now I can put them all away because this is the one I've been looking for! Jim Bohn and his fellow musicians take the beautiful traditional Christmas songs that we tend to take for granted, and turn them into something you've never heard before. The music is comfortable and familiar, yet energizing and soul stirring all at the same time. I keep it in the car and play it whenever I need to be reminded what this season is really all about.

The cure for "Bah Humbug!"
author: Tracy Jane Comer
I was having a touch of "Bah Humbug" this year (typical holiday stress), but this CD has cured me! Jim's Christmas collection is artistic and tasteful with lots of variety in texture and style, nicely produced and instantly engaging. These arrangements display Jim's talent and versatility and vision in new and unexpected ways, making me wonder what other surprises he might have in store for future projects! It will be getting many repeat spins.
