Take a quarter cup of Woody Guthrie, pour in a little Mark Knopfler, a couple of dashes of Richard Shindell, a hint of John Gorka and David Wilcox...shake well...sometimes pure, sometimes bluesy, and sometimes it thumps.

notes
"Melted Toys is a dark song, but a strong statement and a fine introduction to Jim Caputo"
Bob Sherman, host of Woody's Children
WFUV 90.7 FM; Bronx, NY
"Jim Caputo...a name to keep your eyes on and ears open for"
-Charlie Backfish, host of Sunday Street
WUSB-90.7 FM; Stony Brook, NY
"Recently, I found your killer tune 'Not Even Rand-McNally.' Its a sweet song. The line about not finding the way back to your heart is perfect. I'll spin 'Rand' again."
-Tim Schaefer, host of Sunday Afternoons with Tim Schaefer
WKZE-98.1 FM; Sharon, CT
"Jim Caputo is a master storyteller who reveals the underlying truths that often go unnoticed in seemingly ordinary events, and wraps them up in cool melodies with which you'll find yourself humming along. The characters that inhabit his stories speak honestly. Their stories are often poignant without being saccharin or trite. In lesser hands, the subjects of Jim's hard-edged songs would seem bitter, however, he deftly turns them into thought-provoking and haunting vignettes. Fans of acoustic music will love Jim's rich, resonant voice, as well as his elegant guitar playing technique; his style is at once familiar, yet entirely his own. This seasoned performer always shares his warm and soulful presence with his audiences, and is deservedly popular on the acoustic music scene."
-Amy Tuttle, Folk Music Society of Huntington
Huntington, NY
Jim Caputo is a self-taught guitarist who has been playing for over 20 years. He is an accomplished songwriter, whose long awaited first CD New Lit Sky has been recently released. His music is a mixture of purist folk with modern and sometimes jazzy styles. Lyrically, Jim's songs make you laugh and make you think - and you can expect to hear a healthy dose of songs about unhealthy relationships. This is not your father's folk music.

Jim's favorite conversation with a new fan:
"That first song you sang, was that a Richard Shindell song?"
"Umm, no. It was mine."
A Clarification:
The two-minute mp3 sample of "Trusted Gun" gives the impression that it is a pro-gun song. I promise it is not.

this is one of the best cds i've bought on cdbaby
author: eurofolkthis guy can write lyrics. the songs get past the surface of issues and really get to the deeper and more important details. he takes on a lot of issues like racism, guns, poverty, and war. the song about turning children's toys into bullets should be played on every radio station in the world.
Great sound! good listening music. Sad outlook on life, but life sometimes is.
author: Betty MessinaGreat music to sit and listen to. It's sometimes quite sad, but life is like that. I really enjoyed it. Will order he CD so I can listen to it, whenever I wish.
