Mostly acoustic, front porch country music with shades of rockabilly and a reminder of the old stuff the writer grew up on. You may hear something that sounds familiar but somehow with another twist.

Album Notes

Jim Carothers grew up on a farm in McNairy County in Southwest Tennessee, spent four years in the US Air Force and returned to go to college, get married, become the father of four children, and spend almost two decades as a deputy sheriff in McNairy County, Tn. Jim has been an unrepentant songwriter from his days as an Air Force Security policeman( a long time ago) until now. Many of Carothers'songs were written on those long nights alone in a police cruiser."Putting on The dog", a song heard on the Grand Ole Opry and recorded and performed by Mike Snider is a Carothers song that began life in a cruiser . Aaron Wilburn of the Gaither Gospel Group has also covered the "Dog " song. .The songs in this collection are only a few of the songs that Jim has written in the past few years since moving to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1991. " Life And Love" started as a catalogue of songs intended as a songwriter's demo. Carothers' son, James, plays guitar, dobro, steel, and bass. Jim sings the vocal tracks and plays acoustic guitar.
