Album Notes

For the past decade, Jim Faddis has fronted one of the Pacific Northwest's most successful bluegrass bands, Prairie Flyer. While Prairie Flyer continues to roll on with no sign of stopping, Jim has fulfilled a long-time dream of releasing a solo project featuring original songs performed in a mellower Americana style. Jim's originals have always been a primary ingredient in Prairie Flyer's wide popularity, and on One More Ride he unveils a dozen new songs that prove why he is one of the most respected songwriters in the Northwest bluegrass scene. Drawing on influences like Steve Earle, Guy Clark and Merle Haggard, Jim paints vivid characters plagued with regret, longing and heartbreak, and sings their stories in his haunting high tenor voice with understated and tasteful accompaniment from Dale Adkin’s guitar, Jeff Smith’s mandolin and Alex Hargreaves’ fiddle.

Jim's music takes me to a place and time when I was the most like the person I strive to be. I love 'One More Ride' and listen to it over and over. I think it is his best project to date. I've been a huge Prairie Flyer fan since day one and catch every show I can. The single CD is even better, and I wouldn't have thought that would be possible. There is an honesty in Jim's music that creates a feeling of kinship in me. Jim makes himself vulnerable in an enormously endearing way through his music. It's hard to put into words: the CD is just plainly Magical. I love it.
