This is a rollicking, jangly, chiming, Christmas CD with lots of lead guitar solos, lush vocal harmonies and 12-string Rickenbacker guitar reminiscent of the legendary late 60's band, The Byrds. A sort of "Cali Roots Rock" feel was added as well on several tracks with some accordian and most notably from pedal steel guitar ace, Greg Leisz (American Idol, K.D. Lang, John Fogerty, Ray Lamontagne, etc.). "Pedal Steele guitar was big out here in L.A. in the 30's, 40,s and 50's during the western swing era before Elvis and Rock 'n Roll took over so I just wanted to mix that sound with some 'Byrds-esque' 12-string. My song, 'Santa's Catching A Wave' captures this sort of Folk/Roots Rock (Foots Rock?) feel the best," notes Jim. Greg also plays some gorgous pedal steel on Jim's version of 'Oh Holy Night.' Other favorites include some jangly Ric 12-string arrangements of holiday classics 'Little Drummer Boy' and 'Joy To The World.' Veteran 'Missiles of October' guitarist Richard Bredice took time away from the band and the studio to add tasty licks throughout this mix of Christmas standards, a few covers and several originals.
