Jimi Hazel.Guitarist.Songwriter.Producer.Founding member of the groundbreaking,genre smashing black rock band,24-7 SPYZ.
And now,for the first time,a solo artist!!!But wait-Let's go back a minute-for a brief history lesson.(kinda brief!)
In 1989,a band emerged
out of the South Bronx bringing a new sound that combined
elements of Rock,Funk,Jazz,Reggae and Rap.This would become
the foundation many a band would stand on!!In the process,
they also helped to shatter the stereotypes and dispel the
myth that "Black Bands Don't Rock!!Following in the paths
laid down by Jimi Hendrix,P-Funk,Mandrill,Bad Brains and
countless others,how could they not?????After releasing
six cds:Harder Than You(1989),Gumbo Millennium(1990),This
is 24-7 SPYZ(1991),Strength In Numbers(1992),Temporarily
Disconnected(1994),"6"(1995-European Release)and Heavy
Metal Soul By The Pound(1996-U.S. Release)-much to the dismay of the fans worldwide-they disbanded in 1997.
Jimi needed to take a much needed rest:He produced all
six of the Spyz cds as well as being the primary songwriter
(along with bassist,Rick Skatore.)Not to mention,non-stop
touring around the world for almost 8 years!!!Well,vacation
time is over!!!This CD finds Jimi ready to rock as only he
can!!Jimi plays all the instruments on the CD:Guitar,Bass,
Drums,Keyboards and last,but not least,Vocals!With guest appearances from Turbo B of SNAP!,D.J.Rocking Rob and Renell"Ladybug" Richardson,the party is on and rocking! Jimi produced and released
this CD on his own label,"The Gumbo Recording Company,thus
opening a new chapter for a man who knows no boundaries!!
