ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jim Ireland has the good taste to be laid-back. Where other artists would have emphasized the text as well as the music, he let these entities speak for themselves. And find their expressions through his sensitive interpretations. A wonderful example is his own "White Potato Blues" which deserves to be a standard, no more and no less. In his artmanship he is excellently supported by his band, The Stage Road Ramblers, where multi-instrumentalist Jim Armenti shines as always. This is laid -back music for laid-back people. - Ingemar Johansson, Gothemburg, Sweden

Alan Bruce

A sweet, sensitive swing into the blues. . . . .
Someone recently lent me this CD for a listen, and they're not vey likely to ever get it back. This disc is a sweet and sensitive swing into both tradiitional blues numbers like "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," to other songs never part of that genre, like "If I Only Had a Brain." In addition, there are new songs, like "Buttercup" and "White Potato Blues" that wring emotion out of every note and chord. All the music tumbles out of the speakers in Ireland's rich, warm, vibrant bass voice, accompanied by terrific guitar work from the Stage Road Ramblers. Give this one a try--it soothes the soul, mine anyway, and makes the day a very mellow place to be.
