Watching The River Run “Revisited” is a collection of my favorite songs that I still enjoy performing. Songs that I have either written, produced or engineered as solo artist or during my time with Loggins and Messina, POCO or Buffalo Springfield.
Originally the reason for making this album was because inevitably, whenever a promoter and/or a radio station needed to create an ad for a Jim Messina Concert, they would choose the original recordings from The Buffalo Springfield, Poco and Loggins and Messina.
The problem with this for me was the original recordings of "Peace of Mind" "Watching the River Run" "Kind Woman" and "Child's Claim To Fame" all contain Kenny or Richie as the featured vocalist. Whenever, I heard the over the radio, I felt they unintentionally misrepresented what my audience would hear when they came to see me in concert.
So, I booked studio time in Nashville using the four musicians/singers I was performing with at the time, and we proceeded to record my entire set list. Which by the way, turned out really fun to do!
Upon completion, I selected the songs from the master recordings to create the CD. My expectation was to produce a comprehensive source of recorded material that both contained my vocal performances and instrumental performances as well as my own musical arrangements on for Radio stations and promoters to use to create their concert ads.
But what I didn’t expect and much to my surprise was that my fans would respond with such enthusiasm and desire to want to purchase it at my concerts and now on CD Baby. That is why Watching The River Run is now being “Revisited” once again.
For your enjoyment,
