Album Notes

‘Rocky Palace’ was the most challenging project I’ve ever created. The songs found here were written between emotions and the towns of Terlingua, Austin and San Angelo, TX. They are songs of real people, places and things. The time period spanned 2002 to 2009. Originally there were 40 songs to choose from. That was my first hurdle. Try picking your best or worst memory and tell the world about it in a song. There were 60+ people involved in the making of this album. I’d like to name them all, but it’d be boring unless they were all famous. I will say that Zen the pit bull was there for every session and quickly became the head of the complaint department. The biggest contributor during the tracking process was Eugene Brown. He was amazing in so many ways and a joy to work with. We started in Sept 2009 and finished final guitar tracks Friday 13, Aug 2010. Two days later Eugene had to be rushed to the emergency room. On Jan 8, 2011 I received a call and learned Eugene was gone. His organ and piano parts, vocal harmonies and his creativity are a constant reminder that he is alive in the ‘Rocky Palace’. If one song touches one heart in a special way, then it’s all worth it. I will take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ to my family, friends and fans in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Texas.
