Jimmy Dow is a lyricist and composer who writes songs for other artists, bands and for film. His claim-to-fame, his mark-on-the-world: encourage, entertain and challenge your heart and mind. An accomplished vocalist, Jimmy delivers his own songs in a barotone and style remniscent of Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn and Chris Isaak.
Available on CD-Baby as digital download:
\"A Pill For Every Mood\" title came from an illustration his artist daughter (Melissa) created. It was a creative match for this compilation -- the songs will make you laugh, get angry, cry and feel good.
Jimmy is deaf in one ear. Makes fun of himself -- not others who have true disabilities -- he advocates for them.
Jimmy inherited his vocal chops from music-minister, conductor and voice-teacher father and soloist mother. He grew up listening to Handel, Zepplin, Mozart, Eric Clapton, Vivaldi, The Jacksons, Al Green, Jimi Hendrix... He grew up singing in the \"Dow Family Singers\" (he was 7 and sang soprano), choirs, folk groups, coffee houses and gospel groups.
Growing up in San Diego, his creative freedom (and rebellion) started with 2 other choir-boy misfits: Russ & Tim. They sang as \"Russ, Tim & Jim\" in coffee houses and ran wild on church choir tours across the country :) They sang beautiful songs about love, truth, friendship.
Jimmy finds a way to weave in important messages in his songs. But he does not take himeself too seriously; finding humor in telling stories ---- embellished authbiographies of his ups-and-downs:
\"I think I\'ll take a Dog Sled to Alaska...
I\'m gonna find me an Eskimo Queen.
She\'ll teach me to rub her nose just right...
I\'ll...tttttteach her somethin\' she\'s never seen!!\"
- Rockin\' Chair Blues, Jimmy Dow
DEDICATION NOTE FROM JIMMY
This is Dedicated to My father - Rev. Robert G. Dow, Mother Dottie Dow (you should have heard their duets), sisters: Judy, Jan, Jean (get it, the 4 \"J\'s\", singing family), my children - Melissa, Geoffrey, Lillian
My committment is to be a change agent and advocate; reaching out, creating community and loving those closest to me first. If I accomplish that in my remaining years (hopefully, a few more), then the \"washing the bullshit down\" years were worth it :)
- Jimmy Dow
\"If you find me feedin\' daisies..please turn my face up to the sky
And leave me be...watchin\' the moon roll by.
Whatever I was...you know it was all because...
I\'ve been on the town...
Washin\' the bullshit down
The watchman\'s out...kickin\' your dreams about
It feels so good...knowin\' the watchman\'s gone
It\'s like a song...
Knowin\' the watchman\'s gone\"
The Watchman\'s Gone - Gordon Lightfoot

Rough, Raw and Real..I LOVE the Variety...
author: Barry Tennison
Rough, Raw and Real..I LOVE the Variety...and getting a peak inside a songwriter's head and life. I finally got it -- This is not a single style CD and that's because it is a catalog of individual songs he is looking to place with another performer or film. Too bad he doesn't put together a band and get it out there! It's the lycrics, stories and great voice that I liked.
Why can't I buy it though? It is showing out of stock. Is this available for digital purchase somewhere?

Liked the variety of songs.
author: Joan
I liked the variety of songs this CD has. Sentimental to angry to silly. Really liked the first song Coffee Lady. It made me want to dance! Teach Me Your Song is beautiful. Sad but hopeful.
I look forward to coming back to hear the rest of you songs once you have them up.
