Album Notes

Producer / Guitarist / Songwriter

I grew up in the south and learned to play guitar from my dad at the age of 6. My early influences were every guitar player I ever heard from Duane Eddy to Duane Allman.
I was about 17 when I moved to southern California where I met and was mentored by the late great Gene Davis, lead guitarist for Eddie Cochran and Roger Miller. (Cut Across Shorty - Sittin' In The Balcony) He was the best guitar player I have ever known and a good man.

I've written songs with some cool talented people like number one Nashville songwriters Dean Dillon & Earl Clark
& Grammy winning L.A. composer/drummer Ricky Lawson (Yellow Jackets, Eric Clapton, Baby Face) and the incredible R&B singer Ellis Hall (Tower Of Power).

I created and wrote the songwriters column "The Coffee Club" for the legendary magazine Country Song Roundup. I was also a DJ for the greatest station in the world "KPIG" 107.5 in Freedom California, the No.1 station on California's central coast.

Thanks to Mr. Jack Nau of EMG Pickups,
"Okie Fanokie Stomp" a song off my "No Words" instrumental guitar CD, was included on EMG's "25 Years-25 Artists" CD and the song "Titan Up" on my new CD is also on EMG's "30 Years-30 Artists" and both are available in music stores around the world.

I wrote & produced a song on LA country singer Tamalyn that made it into the Gary Busey film "Ghost Rock." The song is called "Borrowed Wings."

For the last 6 years I've played lead guitar for and helped manage the hilarious & rockin' "Trailer Park Troubadours." Without a doubt the greatest musical / comedy band in the world.

I am currently the "music supervisor" for the film
"Tao Of Surfing" based on the Pulitzer nominated novel
of the same name. www.taoofsurfing.com

This is a dreamy CD
author: Sumoflam
This CD shows the versatility of Jimmy Jackson's playing ability. There is not one definitive style and it is almost as if each piece builds a foundation for the following piece and each one changes the style ever so quaintly. But, if the first piece and last piece are played back to back, there is a unique difference. This is a dreamy CD and very pleasant to sit back, relax and listen to. The additional vocal tracks add some unique color and flavor as well.
