Album Notes

Jimmyjohn was on the road at the age of fifteen playing the role of lead singer to an 7-piece jam band called Yolk. The heavy-hitting rockers of a genre yet defined made their way into the national spotlight and played countless festival and club dates alongside fellow jam band pioneers such as Moe, Moonboot Lover and the Ominous Seapods as well as opening for the likes of Fishbone, Aquarium Rescue Unit and Ween. The group independently released three albums and toured nationally for seven years before eventually parting ways in the late 1990's. Following a decade of new musical pursuits, leading the modern rock group 'F1' and the raucous country stompers 'Whiskey Bones', Jimmyjohn has returned with a debut solo album featuring guest appearances by numerous Old Boy artists and former Yolk members. Produced by Jeff DaBella, at Mansion Audio in Binghamton, NY, 'Stir' blurs the lines between country, rock and popular music, showing what is possible when the right producer mixes with the right musicians. Now available exclusively through Old Boy Records and DigStation.

Boring, repetitive, simple lyrics, and a general lack of musicianship. He does seem to have an decent ear for form or structure but the manner in which it is articulated is somewhat flat. Oh yeah, get a Bass player next time, not just somebody that likes banging on the E Sting... and let the guitar player out of his cage a little more often.

Addictive vocals - the entire cd will draw you in, but I have found myself listening to 'Kisses of Death' and 'Sweet on You' over and over again.
