As the title of the album says, this cd is the "Read Deal." Right off the bat, the first song on this album, Ring of Fire, will catch your attention. Jimmy takes the song to a different place as her records it in a style all of his own. From there, you can just sink yourself down in your couch, put the cd in the car player, use it at work, or just anywhere, and you will be amazed at not just the production of country music on this cd, but the vocals by Jimmy. If you give it a chance, the voice you hear on these songs will creep up beside you, whisper in your ear, and the next thing you know you are hooked. Each and every song on this album is superb. They are all well written and well sung. The production is also fantastic as the musicians on the tracks gave their all heartfelt talent to allow Jimmy Parker to release a dynamite cd. Songs such as Til I Can Gain Control Again, That's The Way Love Goes, You're My Everything follow and it just gets better as it moves on. In those songs Jimmy's emotions as well as his vocal range comes clearly across. Listen to the track, Love of My Life. If this song doesn't grab you and not let go, then you may not care too much for country music. I'm A Lonesome Fugitive is another Merle Haggard song covered by Jimmy. This was the first country song that Jimmy ever learned when he started plaing music several years ago. It would only be fitting that he finally record the song, especially since he has always looked up to Merle Haggard as a country music icon and a big influence on his own talents. My Heart Needs a Break can also be a song one can relate too. Who has not ever been tired of being hurt from a lost love? Those who have, one could bet you were looking for some way to ease the pain in your heart. Of course, Another Her is an incomparable song. If there was ever a song that should be a hit song, Another Her is definitely one. Jimmy's emotions really come out strong in his performance of that song. His Name, an original, is a craftily written song that expresses a love gone wrong at the most inopportune time. And finally, Warm Love, for those of you who have Jimmy's earlier albums, is a remake. It was a song written by Jimmy about an experience he had with his wife about six months after her death. The song is just plain and simply beautiful.
Yes, Real Deal is an album you need to put into your collection. Jimmy Parker's singing wakes up the music scene with a fresh, yet unique traditional sound that a true country music fan cannot be without in their song collections. True, he may not be a big star in the Nashville sense of the word, but his music, his singing, his professionalism, and his art is truly and really the Real Deal. Grab it while you can.
