Album Notes

Jim O’Keeffe is a native of Athy, a small rural town in the midlands of Ireland. He has been playing and writing music for longer than he cares to remember. Influenced and inspired by such great artists as Rory Gallagher, Robbie Robertson and Eric Clapton. All his songs are guitar orientated, while retaining their ability to engage the listener with approachable lyrics.

Devil in the grain, the sixth studio CD from Jim is a collection of guitar orientated blues rock numbers. In Jim’s last cd Factory Town, he paid tribute to his many influences. This Cd sees him serving up his own take on contemporary blues, from the tearaway ‘Superstitious fool', to the laid back guitar ballad ‘Red deer’ right through to the atmospheric finale ‘Metal bridge waltz’ a tribute to Jim’s hero Rory Gallagher.

All in all this cd is proof that in this technological age of throw away music, the magic still happens when artists like Jim pick up their guitars and create 11 original tracks of this quality.

All tracks written, composed and performed by Jim O’Keeffe.

Guitars, vocals, keyboards,
harmonica bass and drum programming : Jim O'Keeffe

MUTEDPIE.COM'S REVIEW OF THIS ALBUM

So Deep - taken from the newly released Devil in the Grain. It has to be said, it is a complete mystery to me why this man has not been snapped up by any major record companies.

Every track I have ever heard by this man is musical genius! If you were to name drop any comparisons then you could mention Mark Knofler, Eric Clapton, Don Henley and Chris Rea - the list goes on!

checkout "Snakewind" on his album "Factory Town!!"

This has got to be Jim's best work to date. The diverity on this album leaves the listener wondering if it's the same guy. If you are a Rory Gallagher fan like me, then you will apperciate Jim's work on Superstitious Fool as well as Metal Bridge Waltz. The latter being a tribute song ala Tucson Arizona. If you don't have it, get it. You won't be disappointed.
