"Pearce's group is nearly flawless"---Michael Gladstone/allaboutjazz.com

"Thirty Year Waltz" has charted on the JazzWeek Jazz Chart hitting #39 and has been received warmly by jazz radio around the country.

"Composer & jazz pianist Jim Pearce has done due diligence delivering us a fine musical treatise of his original music.....All in the vernacular of Alan Broadbent, Bill Evans, et al. Jim's composition ''Thirty Year Waltz'' was striking in it's broad & expansive rhythmic innovation. Pearce seems able to explore new boundries of the jazz idiom with a particular sense of musical emotionalism that is hard to dismiss. Prime stuff!!"

CD Review From O's Place Jazz Newsletter http://www.OsPlaceJazz.com
O's Notes: From the opening track, "Muddy River Vamp", this one cooks! Herman Burney (b), Paul Fallat (d), Eric South (sax, fl), Ken Gregory (t) and pianist Jim Pearce play with a fervor that is energizing. This feeling exists on the entire set as the band performs Jim's eleven compositions well. Other favorites were "Laughing Matter", the lone bouncy vocal, "Play On" and "Sustaining Influence" where Pearce plays organ.

Thirty Year Waltz has a unified sound, a testament to the philosophy expressed in "Play On";"The music never really dies as long as it's played with love. Play on!"
David Dupont--ONE FINAL NOTE

-

Dear Music Lovers,
I have been playing piano professionally almost non-stop for 30 years eking out a living playing in a succession of mostly low-paying, obscure gigs. I actually played 478 gigs in one year, possibly some kind of world record. I have spent many of my waking hours bent over a piano keyboard. As well, I have had numerous piano dreams in the dream state -- some of them very weird. At a gig, music is played but never heard again. On a CD, the particular notes the musicians play and the feel they create is captured in a concrete way.
Making this record was an opportunity to play pure music with some world-class musicians, without any considerations except to create great music. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Sincerely,
Jim Pearce

Jim Pierce plays with the kind of depth and soul that only comes with many years of playing. This is one of the best CDs I've listened to recently.

What range! What energy! What depth! This is a great CD full of original jazz tunes played by extraordinary musicians who are obviously having a good time. They've got outstanding material to work with: Jim Pearce is a crackerjack composer who writes with lots of heart and pizzazz. His piano playing ain't bad, neither.
