Album Notes

"Washington Square Park" quickly charted on the JazzWeek Jazz Chart and received lots of radio airplay across the U.S. and Canada and was also played in The Netherlands,Denmark,Ireland,Australia and Poland.

Great tunes from award winning composer and pianist Jim Pearce. The title song "Washington Square Park" is sung by the jazz chart topping Rene Marie. The musicians on the CD have played with and or recorded with some of the top names in jazz such as (Chris Potter, Toshiko Akiyoshi ,Cedar Walton, Monty Alexander,Mulgrew Miller and others). Jim won The Grand Prize in the jazz category in The 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and has been playing gigs virtually non stop for 30 years.

"Pearce has produced another winner. This is outstanding mainstream jazz. Washington Square Park is a powerful reminder that not all great jazz pianist/composers are signed to Verve or Blue Note and work out of New York.Pearce's piano style meshes perfectly with his solid memorable compositions: his solos exhibit exquisite melodic phrasing."
