"The new Jimpster album is in heavy rotation, with "Secret Sun" and "Distant Light" being my favorites at the moment. I love this guy's lush electronic-dub-house sound." - Jason Bentley, KCRW Los Angeles
"Perfect in many ways" - Record Collector
Amour provides a snapshot of where Freerange has ended up after a solid decade of musical milestones, with the man that started it all taking charge into decade number two. - BPM Magazine
"future soul kingpin and bittersweet house don" - Ben Watt (Buzzin Fly, EBTG)

For Jimpster's (AKA Jamie Odell) debut LP on Freerange, he's chosen to push in a more home listening, song based direction which highlights his versatility as a producer. In Jamie's own words: "it's taken three years to finish, trying to create a real listening album rather than a collection of tracks. I wanted something that can really be enjoyed at home rather than just made for the dancefloor."
From downtempo, instrumental hiphop grooves through to abstract minimal techno through to deep, clicky house and way beyond, this LP will reawaken even the most jaded of listeners. This could be because of Jamie's early decision to bring in featured vocalists to bring a different spin to his usual, instrumental styles. Each vocalist on this album has a unique approach and background which helps to bring a different identity to each of the tracks.
Whether it's the lyrical flow of Captiol A on Left & Right, the jazzual sensuality of Gothenburg's Elsa Hedburg on Slippin', The soul drenched vocals of Alexander East on Love You Better or the samba-soul heat brought by London based Rasiyah on Secret Sun, each delivery goes toward creating a unique yet thoroughly accessible LP
The common thread throughout is Jamie's electronic wizardry that he uses to merge technological precision and raw organic soul in a way that sounds like it was always meant to be. What else would you expect from a man that's been pushing the boundaries of electronic music for the last 15 years?
- Jamie Odell is also a member of highly acclaimed live outfit The Bays, whose performances on John Peel sessions and collaborative gig with Herbie Hancock have confirmed them as one of the most important electronic live acts around today. Their spontaneous and totally improvised gigs have seen them headline many of the worlds best festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Womad, Lowlands and Skol Beats etc.

Excellent Lounge CD
author: Delaina
This cd is amazingly creative, some tracks have a nu-jazzy vibe, and others have a more retro vibe, I espechially cant stop playing the last track. Love ya Jimpster, thanks for consistently putting out the good stuff!
