Album Notes

* Also see \"THE BAR H\" @ www.cdbaby.com/jimreader *

This is Jim\'s second CD and includes 15 songs written and performed by this real Westerner and Rancher from Alberta, Canada.

Jim was a Finalist for 2005 Rising-Star-of-the-Year \"Will Rogers Award\" with The Academy of Western Artists, USA.

Rick Huff, Albuquerque, NM, Western Music Critic who writes for \"Rope Burns\"; \"Classic Country & Western\" and \"The Western Way\" magazines, says this about Jim: \"One of the most interesting performers of cowboy music in the new century is Canada\'s Jim Reader. From his material to his gritty delivery of it, he\'s an original. I\'d be tempted to call him cowboy music\'s Bob Dylan or Neil Young, except Jim hits more of the notes! Seriously, the depth of thought and guitar technique equate to such artists.\"

Jim has his heart, soul, and daily activities in the western lifestyle. Jim is a singer/songwriter whose music is dedicated to historical and current cowboying, ranching, farming and rural life ... the values & traditions. Jim writes about the people, the land, the animals, and their inter-relationships ... songs from cows chewin\' cud to friends buryin\' friends. He is an artist whose passion for music shines through in his performances ... you don\'t just listen to Jim\'s material, you see and feel it.

Jim started playing guitar at age 9 and sang solo in his first festival at age 6. He was a singer/songwriter in a Canadian band that enjoyed many successes including being chosen as a finalist in a national TV \"Search for Stars\". His ol\' band also had the privilege of sharing the stage with singers Kenny Rogers, B.J. Thomas and Tommy James.

Jim has written many corporate and sporting event theme songs over the years... that\'s why his music is more than just the \"three-chord\" tradional western/country music ... he artistically combines his way of life as a rancher plus his non-folk musical influences into his unique Western style. This is true-blue melodic Americana-Folk music.

Jim\'s performs concerts throughout Western Canada and the United States. While his first CD The Bar H CD continues to receive significant air play throughout the U.S. and Canada, this new 1880\'s Cowboys is really turning heads.

He and his wife Marion live on a small ranch between Okotoks & High River, Alberta, Canada, and raise registered Hereford cattle and do a bit of custom haying as well. Jim is a family man, with 5 children.

WEll, From the first few lines of the first song I knew I was in for a ride through the 1880s with the cattledrives in the West. What a masterpiece of songwriting! Jim as told the great stories about the hard working cowboys, the cattle, and the feelings of that time. I highly recommend this album to anyone loving the Western way of life. This is a wonderful history lesson in song. One Top Hand had me hooked forever. Thank you Jim Reader for your love and work and great guitar playing!
