Jim Sobo and "Plain & Simple" started out in San Fransisco in the late 80's, playing acoustic based folk pop/rock in and around the bay area. The band was comprised of acoustic guitar, harmonica, bass guitar & congas/percussion. Jim sang and wrote lyrics and music. In the early 90's, Jim went to Copenhagen to join the "Hearts & Souls" band, Charlie Lustman being the main singer-songwriter and band founder. Jim played solo gigs and continued to create a solo following. By 1994, Jim moved to Los Angeles and started the band "Common Ground". This was an important time in the industry, the new AAA (adult album alternative) format was introduced, where new artists were being played next to established singer-songwriters/bands and new radio stations were open to playing and experimenting with this format. This gave way to such artists as Sheryl Crow, Dave Mathews and David Gray. Common Ground got airplay for local artist shows on 101.9 and 103.1 in the Los Angeles area. This gave Jim's music the exposure to eventually have the song "Hello" placed in the Ardustry feature release "Mafioso, "the Father & the Son", now available on DVD. Jim and his family now reside in the mountains of Prescott, AZ., where he now tours with the Jim Sobo Songwriter's Showcase: to go cynthiasobo@yahoo.com for booking info. Jim is currently working on his new release available in 2007.

Such a beautiful voice! Why isn't he famous?

From first listen to...hmm...I think I'm on my 12th (hey, I just got it a week ago)I've been loving this CD. So melodic and what a beautiful voice Jim has. I'm so glad he has a CD to buy and another one on the way. The songs on this CD remind me a little of a modern era James Taylor minus the heroin addiction. I think.
