JindaLee is a Montreal based musician. Combining a variety of styles but stemming primarily from folk and indie rock, her debut album, entitled Stranger’s Lives, is composed of songs written by JindaLee, accompanied by Chris Simon on lead guitar, Adriel Arsenault on bass, Kendal Zier on drums, Paul Erlichman on banjo, Megan Lee on violin, Linda Tym on cello, and John Harvey on piano.
Many of the songs on the album are inspired by the people that pass through our lives everyday or even just once. It is based on the lives and stories of the strangers around us as well as the familiarity of our own lives. The album feels like a train ride through the seasons, with songs that are present and unfold into a new experience with each listen. It is smart and perceptive folk-rock. The lyrics are thoughtful and observant, the vocals are smooth and at times dreamy, the accompanying musicians compliment each song and give a wide variety to the style of songs.
JindaLee was born and raised in small town Alberta. She began singing and playing guitar as a self taught artist, while living in Munich, Germany. She first came to Montreal in 2004 to study Creative Writing at Concordia University. JindaLee began playing small shows, zine launches and at alternative performance spaces which soon led to her own shows at cafés and bigger concert venues. Since the completion of her BA in December 2006, JindaLee has spent the last eight months completing Stranger’s Lives. JindaLee has been actively collaborating with other musicians; adding diversity and depth to her compositions. Her interest in various genres is evident in the subtle nuances of the album. Her fascination in traveling and the people she’s met along the way has helped inspire the lyrics for the songs she writes.
