johnny j and the hitmen are a new orleans based rock-a-billy trio that has been around for over two decades with several cds produced by such notable musicians as alex chilton of the box tops fame, ben keith best known for his thirty plus year stint as neil young's lap steel sideman and the producer of jewel's 1997 multiplatium album, and dale hawkins of suzie q fame. johnny j, in addition to his numerous albums, has also played with such luminaries as james burton of ricky nelson and elvis presley fame, jerry lee lewis, carl perkins, joe clay, wanda jackson, the ventures, dale hawkins, the stray cats before they were known and a host of other artists to numerous to mention. nuclear hayride was johnny j's first record produced in 1985 and sold primarily in europe and received lots of airplay in norway, sweeden, finland and germany. johnny j writes and records his own music and plays lead guitar better than any other rock-a-billy artist out there today. try it. you'll like it.
