A fresh voice and heartwarming, down-to-earth lyrics
author: Alexia Burland
Imagine 'cosying up' on the porch at dusk and kicking back to the music of JJ Schulz. His fresh voice and down to earth, heartwarming lyrics are great for lazy afternoons and evenings. Lots of great stories and images of life beyond the rat race - from the beautiful pictures conjured up by the 'Song of the Independent Rancher' to the everyday simplicity of 'Need a Pen' - great stuff!

A new kind of true, heart-felt american folk music...
author: Neil Howard
Every song on this CD evokes a true, remembered moment from our collective lives - loss, hope, love, determination and desperation - all contained within in a sweet, simple lyrical phrase or the pluck of a plaintive string. JJ Schultz writes songs from his heart and, rather than sending them out to the world, invites the world inside to enjoy the music where it was meant to stay. New country for an old soul.

An outstanding collection of songs with feet in both alternative and traditional
author: Jim Clark
With the welcome rise and rise of the American singer/songwriter showing no signs of slacking it's getting harder to pick the real talent out of the swirling mix. Schultz is definately in with a chance of rising to the top of the pot. This excellent record provides all the elements - thoughtful, litlting tracks, an individual voice and great musicianship. Fans of the acoustic genre will almost certainly approve, and if they happen to think a song's not a song without tipping its hat to dust, dogs, love, beer and refridgerators they'll be all the happier. Joyfully difficult to catagorize, this collection has traces of Young, Farrar, Parsons and a little Arlo Guthrie in it.

satisfies that down-home folk music fix
author: Rebecca Zeitler
JJ busts out with some nice guitar picking, true-to-life lyrics and a distinctive vocal quality anomalous of other established artists. A delightfully moving compilation, the album is a good mix of inspirational, sentimental and whimsical stories that folks can relate to, bringing on a smile or a tear as you give it a listen. The assortment of instrumental accompaniments are placed just right throughout and each are a nice touch to JJ's warm guitar playing and crooning voice. The songs flow quite nicely melodically and orally, truly complimenting a long drive (I recently sampled it while traveling cross-country) or just sittin' on your front porch with a good, cold beer on a warm summer's evening. Often finding myself with a catchy tune of his in my head long after playing it, Bustin' Outa Town is a solid, genuine album.
