This CD One Shining Star is such an upbeat collection of songs. From Beautiful Girl which made me laugh about what those pretty women are feeling, to One Shining Star which made me cry with tears of joy over the beautiful sentiments expressed there. My favorite song is Loving You. It makes you dance and dance. Even in the car I find myself moving to this CD One Shining Star

I was surprised by One Shining Star. It was funky. Nothing But the Blues said it all for me. It cooked and popped and still had great lyrics which were so smooth, it reminds me of Muddy. My Love is another right up there song with intricate guitar licks and soulful vocals and lyrics. The harmonica throughout really keeps pace and adds just the right spice to make this song and this CD one of my special selections.

Jazz and Blues the way it was meant to be, nice and easy

One Shining Star took me by surprise. I loved the cover of this CD and was thinking maybe singersongwriter, something folksy or country, but what I found was intelligent lyrics, guitar playing that knocks my socks off and harmonica riffs that were original and soulful. The energy of One Shining Star stands up song after song. By the time I reached "So Real" the music was coming straight through me and I was dancing along. The pacing too I liked from the easy flow of Dreamboat ride to the romantic One Shining Star and My Love completely shows the power and range of this wonderful group JJ Slim. I highly recommend this CD to Blues fans and Jazz fans alike

What a great way to spend an afternoon listening to One Shining Star

My daughter and I began listening to One Shining Star just after lunch before we went out to choir practice. Wow. We couldn't believe how wonderful all of the songs on One Shining Star were. Jessica loves "Loving You", "So Real", and "Nothing But the Blues." Jessica is 14 and I wasn't sure she would dig their music but One Shining Star had her laughing and dancing. When we took it along with us to practice, she was already singing along with JJ Slim. I love this CD. What a great gift it was from my uncle Tim.
It's about as down home as you can get, yet it is so upbeat. Great job JJ Slim and One Shining Star.
