What A Fool

Take my hand
And rob me blind
If my head ain't in the sand
It's where the sun don't shine
And I'm sittin' here, up on this stool
Sittin' here thinkin' of you
What a fool
Oh, what a fool

Baby, how you looked so fine
And I went straight to talking to you
With this heart of mine
And now I wonder, pretty baby
How could I have been so blind?

Take my hand
And rob me blind
If my head ain't in the sand
It's where the sun don't shine
And I'm sittin' here, up on this stool
Sittin' here thinkin' of you
What a fool
Oh, what a fool

Baby, back when love was blind
And I was keepin' all your kisses
Like they're mine all mine
I used to wonder, pretty baby
What could make you change your mind

Don't Come Back

Tired of walkin' round lonely
Tired of thinkin' that you might come back
Tired of lookin' like I just got sacked
Oh, baby, baby, baby, it's a matter of fact

I'm givin' up on you, baby
So don't come back
I'm givin' up on you, baby
It's a matter of fact
I'm givin' up on you, baby
So baby, baby, baby, please
Don't come back

Tired of sittin' round lonely
Livin' life inside a paperback
TV lovers make the beast of backs
Oh, baby, was it actin'
When we looked like that?

I'm givin' up on you, baby
So don't come back
I'm givin' up on you, baby
It's a matter of fact
I'm givin' up on you, baby
So baby, baby, baby, please
Don't come back

Tired of layin' down lonely
Tired of dreamin' that you just come back
Tired of makin' love, then makin' tracks
Tired of thinkin' of you, baby
When I look at her back

I'm givin' up on you, baby
So don't come back
I'm givin' up on you, baby
It's a matter of fact
I'm givin' up on you, baby
So baby, baby, baby, please
Don't come back

Never come back
Don't come back
Never come back
Don't come back
Gonna walk and don't look back
Don't come back
Never come back
Don't come back

Love Is Impossible (To Blame)

The loyalties of friends
The promises of lovers
The disappointment in the end
Is it now that you discover?
Love____
Love is an imaginary game
Love____, Love____
Love is impossible to blame

The trembling of your hand
The sigh just like your mother
The crumbling castles in the sand
Will there wash ashore another
Love____
Love is an imaginary game
Love____, Love____
Love is impossible to blame

You find your heart again
You find another lover
Is it now that you pretend?
Is it more than just another summer
Love____
Love is an imaginary game
Love____, Love____
Love is impossible to blame

Love____
Love is an imaginary game
Love____, Love____
Love is impossible to blame

Deep Eddy

Like the magic exploration of land
In the seventeenth century
Like a continent engulfing a man
To the heart of her misery
I am calling you
You're narrow, but you're deep, Eddy
And I'm so wired and blue
Eddy, I hope your best dreams come to you

...I'm so wired and blue
Eddy, I hope your best dreams come to you

Like emotion on the face of a man
Stepping on to the sovereign moon
Like an ocean bound with states that you planned
In the charters of childhood rooms
I am calling you
You're narrow, but you're deep, Eddy
And I'm so wired and blue
Eddy, I hope your best dreams come to you

...I'm so wired and blue
Eddy, I hope your best dreams come to you

Dark Day
Dedicated to Baines McBay

It's a dark day
The clouds are overhead
There's no sun at the window
But there's a shadow fallin'
Straight across your bed
It's a dark day
Lord, it's a dark day
And, girl, you know I'm gonna miss you

It's a dark day
Your shadow's on the wall
I thought I heard your footsteps
Echoin' down the hall
It's a dark day
Lord, it's a dark day
And, girl, you know I'm gonna miss you

It's a dark day, it's a dark day
It's a dark day, it's a dark day
It's a dark day, it's a dark day
It's a dark day, it's a dark day

It's a dark day
Your tears are on the lawn
I swear that damned ol' gardener
Musta left that sprinkler on
It's a dark day
Lord, it's a dark day
And, girl, you know I'm gonna miss you

It's a dark day
The clouds are overhead
I thought I felt your fingers
Rumblin' through my bed
It's a dark day
Lord, it's a dark day
And, girl, you know I'm gonna miss you

Mi Camerica

Mi cameré, Mi Camerica
Warm lips that wish me awake
You're up making the morning
Breaking an egg for my breakfast
Mi cameré, Mi Camerica

Your nose is pressed to the kitchen pane
Saturn, you say, is the bright morning star
Mercury - "There!" - is the faintest
And like the starts in your sky
I catch a glimpse of your knowledge of why
Before the dull sun and the day come to fade it
Mi cameré, Mi Camerica
Tell me what lies in the day

Mi cameré, Mi Camerica
Eye dancing in a café
Sidewalk shade under the awnings
Sweet breeze delays all the rushing past
Mi cameré, Mi Camerica
Cool in the heat of the day

Mi cameré, Mi Camerica
Dance at the end of the day

Thousands of Miles

Thousands of miles across the sea
Whispers apart
Darlin', for you and me
I understand
I feel you thinking what I'm thinking

Thousands of miles across the sea
Oceans apart
I can feel your heart beat
I understand
I feel you thinking what I'm thinking
Thousands of miles across the sea

When I was a child
With John Kennedy gone
And everyone sure now that Kruschev would win it
Everyone feared
We felt them thinking what we're thinking
Thousands of miles across the sea

Car in the driveway across the street
Friend of a neighbor I'll never meet
I understand
I feel them thinking what I'm thinking

Thousands and thousands of miles across the sea
Oceans apart
I can feel your heart beat
I understand
I feel you thinking what I'm thinking

Thousands of miles across the sea
Bonus point mileage and first class seats
And there I will stand
And I'll see you thinking what I'm thinking
Thousands of miles across the sea

Soul to Soul

When you find your heart again
When you find your joy
Be sure to send some back here, now
I'm gonna miss you, boy

And when you turn the light
And you lay down your head
Simply know that you can never
Lie alone there in your bed

For love will follow you
No matter where you roam
As far as you can travel
There's no distance, soul to soul

Oh, and though it's hard to think
That you will love again
Or that I will find my way back
To this place where we have been

The roads we travel
Will lead us with the dawn
We gave each other comfort
And the strength to carry on

Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey

When you feel alone again
And you find someone to love
Remember to stay open, now
Let it fit you like a glove

And when the lights go down
And you lay down your head
Simply know that you can never
Lie alone there in your bed

For love will follow you
No matter where you roam
As far as you can travel
There's no distance, soul to soul

Oh, and though it's hard to think
That you will love again
Or that I will find my way back
To this place where we have been

The roads we travel
Will lead us with the dawn
We gave each other comfort
And the strength to carry on

Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey

Dreams of Dreams Come True

I've been thinking a lot about this tune
Our faded love, and our painted rooms
And I know these days have been tough on you
But I'm believin', babe, they could get tougher soon

And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
Just when I need her love to come and pull me through
And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
When I go chasin' dreams of dreams come true

You know, I dreamed all my dreams came true
Now, don't you say it, babe, I know it's nothin' new
But without my dreamin' my dreams can't come true
They can't come true, babe, you know they can't come true

And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
Just when I need her love to come and pull me through
And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
When I go chasin' dreams of dreams come true

I've been thinkin' a lot about this tune
Our bitin' love, and our abidin' truce
And I know this scuffle's been rough on you
I'm still bleedin', babe, you're turnin' black and blue

And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
Just when I need her love to come and pull me through
And it's breakin' my sweetheart in two
When I go chasin' dreams of dreams come true

And So You Go

And so you go
Out on your road
How does the sunshine know when to blow?

All of my friends are glad you are gone
They could not hear your innocent song
Or your tattered childhood
Tagging along
Dreading the dusk
Daring the dawn

Where will you go?
Who will you know?
Will there be sunshine there for you both?
